Erratic speed control
1. Removed the silver name band that encircles the mixer head by removing one philips screw at the rear of the head. 2. There are four philips head screws under the band. 3. Remove the four screws and lift the top half of the head from the machine. 4. Looking at the rear of the machine, the speed control is to the right (identify by the speed control knob. 5. Remove the two screws (philips) on each side of the speed control assembly. 6. Lift the speed control from the machine and let it hang by the connecting wires. 7. One at a time, remove the plugs that are connected to the speed control module and place then in the same location as the new part. 8. Set the old control aside. 9. Set the new controller in place and secure with the two philips screws removed during disassembly (note: do not over-tighten the screws as the tabs on the controller are plastic and can break if over-tightened). 10. Replace the cover and replace the four screws holding the cover in place and tighten securely. 11. Replace the beauty name place and tighten in place. This whole process took about 6 minutes from start to finish. The mixer now works like new.

After sitting on my kitchen counter for nearly 42 years the rubber feet left foot prints.
We:
tipped the mixer over on its side
pulled the old feet off
put the new feet in place and pounded them w/our fists
set it back up on its new feet
smiled

kitchen aide stand mixer - epicurian 6 quart model
after numerous calls to kitchen aide and ka repair centers - i decided that their remedy was to sell me a new or refurbished model -- so i decided to try the repair myself - why not - the appliance didn't function and their fix again was close to the price of a new one --- the fix - remove the band (small screw in back --- 4 screws hold on the top of the mixer - remove them and pull off the top -- the gears are at the front -- four screws hold the top in place- remove them and pull off the cover -- this is where it gets interesting - it's a little messy with the grease -- but clean out as much as possible --
the toughest part is then removing the retaining clip --- (a tool is avail at numerous hardware stores that will make it a bit easier about $20. ) but pry the clip up and slide off top -- remove gear - clean out completely - remove all old grindings -- replace gears -- add grease and reverse order... great fix -- even with purchase of pliers it was cheaper than any offer from kitchen aide....

needed a new beater since old one was chipping and had coating flaking off.
Looked up part replacement, ordered on line. Found part easily and waited anxiously for new part. I wanted to make cookies for the holiday season. Received part quickly, opened up packaging, put on mixer and I was back in business. Thanks so much for an easy fix. I also was pleasantly surprised at how cheap the replacement part was. Thank you, thank you for allowing me to get a new part with ease and continue to use my Kitchen Aid mixer.

The front gear was worn
I took all the grease out of the top of the mixer. Saw that the gear was worn. When the new parts came I put as much grease in as was in before. Put it back together and it worked like a champ.

bevel gear, bearings and housing replacement
The parts I received from PartSelect were higher quality than the original parts. The bevel gear and housing were originally plastic. The new ones are solid metal. The machine sounds and runs better than it ever did. The drawings from the website made this really easy. This will be my first choise for parts from now on.

when turned on mixer went full speed for 10 secs. then shut off. when turned off then this repeated. Trouble guide indicates defective speed control.
per e.g. and put cover on and secured screws. Pluged in unit turned it on and it worked for 25 secs then went full speed and shut down.. repeat this several times got same results. Put old unit back in and it worked for 2 days then same results. I now suspect coil on shaft is defective. I'll order that and see. Unless some one knows of another problem.

Nut Screw Plastic Housing Split that stabilizes attachments on top side of machine
I removed the old screw with a hand tool to avoid injuring my hand. I then used my hand to install the new screw. Piece of cake. Ordering from Part Select was was a breeze. The only minor issue was the part cost $4.33 and shipping was $7.25.
