in 2 yrs the charcoal filter had NEVER been changed and it was smelling horrible--so had to be done !
--simpley removed 2 screws, removed old filter--but had PLENTY of cleaning to do before putting in the new filter !My husband LOVES to cook and pan fry foods--it won't go that long before being replaced in the future!

Bulb burned out
You had alerted that it was imperative to unplug unit before starting to remove defective bulb. As described, there was silicon on bulb and socket and bulb broke upon my attempt to remove. Had to use needle nose pliers to get metal base of old bulb from socket, then all went well.

Broken Vent Grill
My daugher used the vent grill on the microwave as a handhold while putting dishes away in the cupboard and broke it. I found the part via the Whirlpool website. When the part arrived I removed the two screws, placed the new vent grill in place and replaced the screws. Total time: About 10 minutes.

The vent grille mounting brackets broke
The old grille would not stay in place since the mounting brackets disintegrated. I wired the old grille in place for aesthetics and ordered a new one. When the new grille arrived (very promptly I might add)I removed the old grille and mounted the new one with the old screws. It would have been nice if the new part had included new screws because I lost one of the old ones. But I have a cache of old screws so I found a replacement that worked. I was very pleased to find the new part so easily!

It was cracked by the screws.
I took the old one off and put the new one up opened the door to do it and used a magnetic phillips screwdriver.I did not need help from the husband .

burnt out light bulb
The problem I have with changing the bulb is my microwave is an overhead one and therefore I cannot tip it on its side to easily replace the bulb. I have to drop the lid down and carefully install the new bulb from underneath.

Reminder signal and message to change filter on microwave digital display.
Removed 2 screws on the top of the microwave and removed top/front piece of microwave. Slid out old filter (which didn't look dirty at all) and replaced it with the new one. Replaced top/front piece and 2 screws. It took less than 5 minutes.
