All power to the microwave went out.
PartSelect had helpful repair instructions on-line which made the repair easier and faster. Unfortunately, there were other problems with the oven that immediately blew the new fuse I had just installed. It was then determined that additional repair would most likely cost almost as much as a new microwave.

microwave just stopped working
First unplugged the microwave, took top grill off, took control panel off, took wires off and used color coded tape to make sure they went back in right places, took fuse out and replaced it and put every thing back and it all worked fine and to top it off my wife did it all. So it was pretty easy.

Needed to take the underpanel out 6 small phillips head screws - non-magnetic so be careful you don't lose them.Pulled the shield of and the door comes away. Becareful not to drop it. Handle and latch went on quickly and as expected - put parts back in reverse order and off yuo go. Door works as good as new.

Replace a broken handle on a GE spacemaker MW
I used a thin flat bar and a painters utility tool to pry the interior 1 1/2" plastic perimeter cover off. This is the most difficult phase of the project. The four corners have heavier duty clips that did not break off and easily were enough to hold the cover in place again after handle installation. Unfortunately the additional 10 to 12 smaller clips mostly broke. Still not a problem. Once this outer ring was off the upper handle screw was accessible, but to get to the lower screw I had to separate the outer door cover and a metal hinge mounted frame. There were (4) small phillips screws to remove and then again another clip removal to separate the last of the door components. FYI- this also required flat bar tools to lever the 6 or 8 heavier plastic clips that also hold the outer door cover and glass frame onto the metal door frame that is attached to the hinges. Once all apart the handle replaced simply and fit well. It went back very easily. Within 2 minutes I had it all back together and the outside wiped off of my fingerprints. The most difficult part was the first phase in trying to carefully remove the 1 1/2" interior plastic perimeter piece. 2nd most difficult was to the last prying required strong hands and might be better completed by (2) people. Other than that- it was a piece of cake.

Broken handle on the Advantium Microwave
Called my local appliance repair shop when the handle broke off my GE Advantium microwave. They told me the price of the handle, but said the door would need to be replaced as well. This is because the plastic tabs break off the inner door panel when it is removed. They estimated a $400 repair cost. I ordered the door and installed it for around $45. The inner panel comes out, and most of the tabs do break off. I was able to disassemble, install the new door, and reassemble. The inner panel stays right where it belongs, even though I broke off a few plastic tabs. Werks goood.

broken door latch assembly (I broke it!)
I had left the door to the microwave open and turned around and hit the door latch assembly with my arm, sanpping off the bottom latch hook. In an effort to take apart the latch assembly it was necessary to take off the door choke cover and in doing so I sanpped a few of the plastic tabs that hold it in place. Undismayed, I then went online, found PartSelect, ordered the replacement parts, received them in three days and in fifteen minutes fixed both of them. The diagrams on the site made it easy to find what I needed and ordering the parts was easy. Thanks PartSelect-my wife is happy again!!!

Microwave portion did not work, Halogen lights and fans did.
The primary door latch switch contacts were not closing properly. I broke the latch bracket while removing the switch. It is only a plastic clip that holds the switch in place. I replaced the switch and bracket. The Advantium now works in all modes.
