Turntable would not rotate.
First I unplugged microwave oven, then removed the six screws at the bottom of the microwave and lowered the base to expose the small motor. I removed the motor and replaced it with the new one. From inside the oven I pushed the drive shaft back into the new motor, then replaced the bottom with the six screws. I plugged the oven in and tested it. It worked! In less than 15 min. I saved over $220, and I'm a 65 year old Grandma! Thank you, thank you!

Turntable in microwave stopped
First I removed the 5 screws holding the vents and lights on the range hood. Dropped down the panel to the range top. Removed power connector on drive motor and checked for voltage when microwave was running. I had the required 21 vac for the motor to run. Tried to remove motor the hard way and found a screw on the back side after trying to remove the tray hub and broke it because there is tab on it. With the screew holding the removed the motor came right out and the hub did not need to removed. The new parts slipped right in. Thanks for your very quick service.

Microwave was making a koud grinding sound
First I unplugged the microwave from the wall receptacle. Next I removed eight screws that let the bottom plate of the microwave hood pivot down with its hinges. Next I removed two screws holding the turn motor in place. I then unplugged the motor and replaced it with the new motor and reversed the above procedures until everything was back in place. I then turned the microwave on and was thrilled to find it working properly again.

drive motor dead
This is the 3rd time I have used PartSelect to help me repair appliances I never thought I could fix on my own. The troubleshooting knowledgebase walked me through repairing my dryer, the illustrated parts diagrams gave confidence to replace the thermostat in my oven, and now to replace the tray motor in my microwave, all saving lots of money in my pocket instead of the repairmans. This motor repair simply requires removal of 4 screws, and unplugging an electrical connector. Hooray for PartSelect!!!

Original drive motor was making noise and not turning the glass cooking tray.
I removed the five screws that held the bottom plate in place. After removing the bottom plate, I unscrewed the one screw holding the drive motor, unplugged the motor, and then installed the new motor. Replaced the botton plate and then tested the new motor. Everything worked like new.

The part was less expensive than buying it from GE. I ordered the motor on a Monday morning and received it Wednesday afternoon. I was completely satisified with the price, part, and shipping time.

Thanks,

This was so easy. I'm really glad I did not call a repairman!
Removed six screws that allowed the "bottom" to swing down; then removed the two screws holding the motor - disconnected the two wires. Installed the motor and reversed this procedure to finish the project.
