GI15NFRTS1 Whirlpool Ice Maker - Instructions

I watched the film on installing and taking out. Step by step. easy.

Unplugged the refrigerator then removed two vertical screws on the very back back of the control panel (the ones with the washers). Do not remove the four other vertical screws in the panel. The front plastic plate on control panel snaps off and there are two horizontal screws under the plate. Remove them and the control panel will drop down allowing access to the light switch. Unplug the two wires (one black and one white) from the old switch. Discard the old switch, snap the new one into place and reconnect the two wires. Snap the front plastic plate back into place, plug in the refrigerator and you are done! Problem solved with a new $16.00 switch and saved at least $75.00 or more from an appliance repair call. Repair was so simple, I didn't even need instructions. Removed old fan with motor, installed new one, installed harness that converted plugs, done. Saved hundreds of dollars doing the repair myself.

Removed to old motor by removing screws and disconnecting power source and replaced with the new motor and plugged back in power source

Using a 1/4" ratchet removed the old motor, a bit difficult due to small space to get your hand and ratchet in position. Before installing the new motor I used one of the screws to tap the the 3 holes in the new motor so it would be easier to start the screws attaching motor to mounting bracket. Attached cable. plugged in the fridge. Great to hear a quit running refrigerator again.

I surfed partselect and read that a reader had a similar problem with a rattling fan. I then removed the back panel, after I had unplugged the unit, and was able to feel the slop in the fan shaft. I then watched the video of how to replace the fan and ordered the part soon after. The part arrived 3 days later! Easy to do. I was finished in 12 minutes and the fridge runs silently. The part of the job that took the longest was vaccuming the undercarriage. There was alot of dust! Couldn't have helped the efficiency on the fridge. Keep it clean.

I determined it was the cutter grid because there was a broken wire on the existing one. They have to heat up and cut the ice. I ordered it and the part was at my house in 1 day. The cutter grid part was easy to install. The ice maker is working great now.

Easy. I took a picture with everything in tact. Took apart a couple of parts with screw driver. Replaced the pump. Put it all together and it worked fine.Thanks.

Had repair man out to make repair his price for part $219.00 and $271.00 labor as he was looking up his price I got on line and found part here for $121.00 thought it might take me 1 hour to fix only 6- 1/4" nuts 2 screws and less than 30 min I had Ice maker working. Bottom line my total cost $75.00 repar man $121.00 part $196.00 that was a savings of $294.00

Removed old assembly by disconnecting 2 wiring harness connections and loosening 2 screws with nutdriver. Installed new assembly using same process. Had ice in about an hour. Very easy.

Removed lower vent cover and removed valve. Removed water lines and power hookups and attached to new unit. Approx. 15 Minutes total repair. Checked for leaks. Finished. Part select had replacement valve to my door within 24 hours. Great service and simple to understand installation instructions. Highly recommend.

I am the canteen manager at a V.F.W, our ice maker stopped working and I had an appliance technician come in and see what was wrong with it. The technician told me I needed a new compressor costing around $500.00. The next day I pulled out the ice machine and noticed there was condensation dripping on the start relay. I pulled the start relay from the compressor and saw a lot of corrosion. I then sealed the leek and cleaned the pins on the compressor. I ordered a new $40.00 start relay (which came in no time) and installed it. It works perfect.

I removed the two screws that hold the shield in front of the grid and put them aside allowing access to the grid. I then removed the two screws that hold the grid in place. I unplugged the connector and then pulled it out. I reversed the process to reassemble and powered up the unit. I now have ice again. This whole process probably took me 15-20 minutes to do the install.

Watched the video that was attached to my order confirmation (great idea) and just followed it step by step. Real easy repair since I had tried to fix the noise first without ordering parts, so I knew what I was doing Did a temporary fix which quieted it down while I waited for the parts and then the repair itself was pretty straight forward.
