MIM1554XRS2 Maytag Ice Maker - Instructions

Watched the video that was attached to my order confirmation (great idea) and just followed it step by step. Real easy repair since I had tried to fix the noise first without ordering parts, so I knew what I was doing Did a temporary fix which quieted it down while I waited for the parts and then the repair itself was pretty straight forward.

I found the part I needed on this website, watched the tutorial and saw how simple it was to do myself. I ordered the part and it arrived within a few short days. It took me no more than 15 minutes to change out the part. I saved myself several hundred dollars. It is rather shocking how much the "professionals" charge considering the cost of parts, labor and nominal service fees.

what I discovered is the condenser fan is still operating but not strong another word insufficient cooling for the condenser. therefore, it's getting too hot and shutting off and stripped the circuit breaker. After installing the new condenser fan, it gets back in business. it's quite simple. Just unplug the unit off, uncover the bottom back cover and there you see compressor, condenser fan and other good stuff. there you unscrew the nut in front of the condenser fan and remove the fan, then it expose the two screws that holding the fan motor, remove these screws and take out the motor. and just install the new fan motor kit in and there you have it. plug it back to the wall and there it goes

I've tried ordering the part from Sears and they told me it will take about 7 days for the part to arrive, some other place said it will overnite for extra money. So I've ordered the part from Part Select at a good price and prompt delivery. once the part arrive installing the part so so easy cause it had easy to follow instructions.

I pulled the back panel covering the fan and condenser off the refrigerator (just a few screws) and disconnected the fan which was a simple plug. The fan was held in place with three screws which I took out. I pulled out the old fan and replaced it with the new one, three screws to secure it in place and reconnect the fan plug. Then simply replace the back panel and plug the frig in. the fan silently started right up. Good as new and no service call! :)

Fast after a little help from a friend

I called the 800 number and the lady was great to work with and helped me thru all the order process and confirmed the numbers. She also told me she would try to get the order out that day which she did and I had the part two days later. When it arrived I went to the web site and reviewed the video and went to work and all went as the video said. Thanks for the help and if i need another part I will visit your site or call.

I watched the film on installing and taking out. Step by step. easy.

Unplugged the refrigerator then removed two vertical screws on the very back back of the control panel (the ones with the washers). Do not remove the four other vertical screws in the panel. The front plastic plate on control panel snaps off and there are two horizontal screws under the plate. Remove them and the control panel will drop down allowing access to the light switch. Unplug the two wires (one black and one white) from the old switch. Discard the old switch, snap the new one into place and reconnect the two wires. Snap the front plastic plate back into place, plug in the refrigerator and you are done! Problem solved with a new $16.00 switch and saved at least $75.00 or more from an appliance repair call. remove the front cover by removing two screws. then remove two screws with a nut driver on each side. unplug the wireing harness from the top of the unit (may need pliers for this) the pull the unit out. then slide the new unit in, connect the wireing harness, install two side screws, and install the front cover and wham you will have ice in about 30 minutes. thanks parts select. you were very easy to deal with

Removed and replaced the condenser motor fan kit. This was a very easy tear down and replacement of a bad component. Removed 4 screws to remove the bracket holding the fan motor kit pulled it out and replaced with the new unit (4 screws supplied) plgged in adapter cord (supplied) and re-installed took about 10 minutes.

Unplug regrigerator power cordfrom wall outlet. Using nut driver remove cover from lower back side of refrigerator. Unplug wire connection to fan. Using nut driver remove the four screws holding the fan/bracket assembly. Carefully remove fan/bracket assembly from refrigerator. Using nut driver,remove the old fan from fan bracket. Using nut driver install new fan on fan bracket. Carfefully install new fan/bracket assembly and install the four screws. Plug wire connection to fan (you may need to use adapter supplied with new fan). Reinstall refrigerator lower back cover. Plug refrigerator power cord back into outlet. Note: you may wish to carefully vacuum dust from back of refrigerator before installing back cover. You should also vacuum dust from front side.

Disconnected power cord, removed rear cover of refrigerator, disconnected pig tail, removed 4 housing screws, took three mount screws out and removed old fan. Reversed steps, plugged in and complete repair done.

A bit of a tight squeeze for my hands, but very basic as I followed the instructions and watched the installation video. I only had the fridge unplugged for about 20 min..The fridge is as quiet, as it was brand new. The only tool I needed was the 1/4 inch socket wrench. A portable lantern was very helpful as well. Runs very quiet now, like new! Thx!!!

Pretty much followed the how to video. Biggest pain was removing the screws to the bracket that houses the motor.
