Very easy to remove door replace door cams reassemble shuts tight now and works like new

Replaced the refrigerator and removed doors to put the old unit in the basement as an overflow fridge. Noticed the cams broken/worn/missing on bottom door hinges. Ordered parts. When parts arrived, installed them and fridge back in operation. Parts kit had screws with slightly different sized heads, and if you used the wrong ones to mount the cams, there would be a clearance problem. There were no instructions with the parts to explain this. There also were a couple of plastic parts in the kit that were not used - no explanation given.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discoloring refer handles. Thank you

Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.

Part-fect!!!

(1)Remove all items stored in the inner door. (2)Remove all the shelves from the inner door. (3) Remove the top hinge cover screw and remove rhe hinge cover. (4) Remove the upper hinge (5) lift the door out of the lower hinge bracket and lay flat on a table or counter top. (6) Swap out the old parts with the new parts. (6) reassemble.

I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

I watched the video and then ordered the parts. My job was a little easier because the door was already tapped for a 10-32 bolt. Total time including set and tear down was less than an hour. Watching the video first made the job very simple.

After receiving the new part almost immediately,using two screw drivers, removed the broken switch from the plastic frame. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise tear the plastic...very pliable. Since the original switch was factory installed and the wires were packed in fiberglass insulation, the switch came out but the wires and clips were still in place and could not reach the new switch. It was necessary to pull them down with bent long nose pliers...used a lot of "pull" but the wires held up.Connected the switch, turned the power on and there was light! Reports from other users really took the uncertainty out of the task.

Emptied the inside door. Took out the screws from the top hinge. Lifted the door off the bottom hinge. Laid the door on the kitchen table. Replaced the cam on the door. Replaced the cam on the bottom hinge. Placed door back on bottom hinge and put screws back on top.

This is a simple repair. the only reason it took as look as it did was because you need to empty the products from the door(s). Of course this is a good opportunity to thoroughly clean the fridge. The problem was caused by wear on the plastic spacer for the bottom hinge. Remove the plastic covers that conceal the top hinge located on top of the refrigerator. Remove the three bolts that attach the hinge to the housing. The door can then be lifted off the bottom hinge. Remove and replace the bottom spacer. Then remove and replace the receiver in the door by prying it out with a screwdriver or pliers and popping in the new one. I put a dab of lithium grease on the hinges before I reassembled them to reduce the wear and extend the life a little. Reverse the procedure to reassemble.

I have a KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator and the right door clunked everytime it opened. We think it was damaged when contractors had to move the fridge and probably were too rough with it. I went on line and found that I could actually repair it myself (thanks to this web site, a great web site, by the way). I researched and found out through others that I needed a new door closing CAM kit. I only needed to fix 1 door, but bought the whole kit anyway (PS358690, Door Closing Cam Kit)to have spares. The kit showed up, I followed the great instructions via the video to remove the door, replaced the upper CAM on the door first and then ran into a snafu with the lower cam. The hinge on my model fridge does not have a replaceable CAM, it is physically attached to the door hinge. The instructions that came with the kit showed a hinge that was not my hinge - sigh. I had to put back all the old clunky parts, put the door back on and go order a new hinge (hopefully). Luckily there was a hinge available for my model with the CAM installed. I purchased it (PS331817, Door Hinge with Cam) and it came quickly like the other parts. I took the door off again (I knew how to do it this time), I replaced the hinge with ease, put the door back on and it is no CLUNK-FREE - Smooth like when we bought it. I followed the video instructions. Additionally the ordering process was easy and efficient and I received the parts promptly. Ordered on on 7/29/12 and received the parts on 7/31/12.
