It was very easy to repair and the 1-800 number is a grat resource for assistnat in locating the part.

I opened up the bottom of the cabinet and found some evidence of burned lint in the heater box. I ohmed out the thermostats and they were good. Then I ohmed out the heater coil and found that it was an open circuit.

I ordered the Part on Wednesday night, it arrived on Saturday, and was installed by Monday by my husband. This was the best service I have seen in a good while. Kudos to you!

Followed the instructions from the Whirlpool Technical Service Manual available online

first turn off the power supply then ..removed the lower front cover. .removed the heat shield that covers the element. .. removed the element and replaced with the new one ..

Being from the old school where we never assume to know what the problem was, so took out the heating element to inspect which I found that the element had a broken coil which confermed my suspicions. I ordered a new element on Saturday from paRts select on Saturday and recieved it on Wednesday Ann the rest was a matter of reassembling which was a breeze since I foot plenty of pictures.

Remove two screws holding front panel of dryer. Heating element is on right side, in a protective tube. Remove the six wires connected to the tube, noting their placement. Remove two screws from front metal bracket holding in the tube. Pull tube out. One screw is holding the heating element in the tube, so remove that and you can replace the element. Then reverse to put it all back together. Clean out all of the lint inside the dryer.

First, we unclogged the blocked duct (which, is apparently what burned up the heating unit in the first place!), then, we took off the front of the dryer panel; then we loosened up the heating unit's case and took out the existing heating unit. It was apparent why it wasn't working. You'll have to see yours for yourself. Then, we installed the new unit, put the heat shield back on, closed up the dryer and turned it on. No heat... oops because we forgot to put the electricity to the unit... so we took the panel back off, then plugged the wires up to the heating unit, as we should have the first time, closed up the panel, and voila! The dryer was working again, and for a major fraction of the cost of replacing the thing! 45 dollars instead of 800. Well worth the time! And the 14 year old did the repair. Explains the first plug in mishap, but also taught him a good skill!!!

We removed front cover, then removed the part in front of the element. Removed old element after taking out screw that held it in. Then placed new element in.

I am a retired applaince repairman not recommended for amature to repair this model.

The kit turned out to be missing a 7.40" 4" diameter vent that was needed so ending having to get my plumber to use what was there with a "cut and paste" job - took him over an hour. He did say that had the right piece been there, it would have been easy.

Opened up unit and followed tech directions on inside pocket to isolate the problem to the heating element. Pulled it out and sure enough it was broken in one place. Found the part on PartSelect and ordered it on Saturday, received it on Wednesday. Replaced the new heating element into the assembly, reinstalled the assembly and connected the wires. Works like new now!

My dryer is one of the energy efficient models (HE). The video for the installations was knowledgeable, but getting into the front of mine only required removing to screws from the bottom left & right corner (not using a putty knife to pop the springs). the plate on the front drops after that. Also when taking out the tube with the dryer element in it took a lot more twisting inside the frame to get it loose. Still turn it after the wire connections have been pulled off a little bit better than 1/4 of a turn. Also the heating element was in there really, really tight. It required tapping on the plate with a screw driver and a rubber hammer to take it out & put in (not that tough). After putting it in a 1/4 of a turn so that the tab was inside the blower tube. everything after that was pretty easy. The video showed this all being done in a clean dryer. It has been my experience that before all is running & closed back up that a vacuum or shop vac needs to go thru there to clean things up & prevent a future fire.

After trying to follow a very detailed description by another consumer, we googled our washer and found a site that showed step by step direction that took us through removing all panels and getting to the bellow easily. Not removing the proper panels, we found was making the job hard!I believe the site was applicance services...very helpful! Step by step literally!!Cost of parts through parts select reasonable.
