First I ordered and installed all the thermostats to see if that fixed the problem. Helped a little, but clothes needed to go through two cycles. It had to go through three previously. I then ordered the Heating Element and installed it in abut 20 minutes. The videos that were provided on the installation of the parts proved to be invaluable. For less than $100 in parts I saved over $550 on the purchase of a new dryer. Dryer now drys clothes in one cycle. Thank you

The part arrived in less than 5 days. Unplugged power cord and disconnected the vent line. Removed about 8 hex head screws from the back panel on dryer. Took pictures of everything to reference if I forgot how I took it apart. Used needle nose pliers to remove two wires connected to heating element. Removed 4 screws holding heating element in place. Pull down on heating element to slide off mount. Slide new heating element into place, connected wires, secured it in place with the screws. Vacuumed all the lent in and around the dryer. Before replacing back panel I tested dryer to make sure that it worked and no danger of fire. Replaced the back panel and dried two loads of clothes while I was home to make sure it worked. I did this while my husband was watching football and never knew what I was doing. Saved about $150 bucks and avoided taking time off from work to wait for service man.

Replaced the heating element after testing it for continuity, seeing one of the coils were broke. Put new element in, still no heat, checked all other items for continuity, everything was fine.. found a video on YouTube stating a dryer needs 240volts to run correctly. Checked the fuses and found out I have lost a leg, replaced bad fuse, dryer is working great now..

Raise the top and then remove two screws to remove front. Once the front was removed on this Maytag model it was not necessary to remove the dryer drum. I simply lifted the drum slightly and slid the belt around the drum to position the belt. I then pressed the tension arm toward the drum and fed the belt around the drive pulley and tension pulley. I spun the drum a few turns by hand to insure that the belt was aligned properly. Then replaced the front cover and the top. Turned on the dryer to test and job was completed. Thanks to your video and prompt parts delivery the job was a snap. My wife didn't even have time to get mad.

Remove the plug from the wall outlet. Leaned the dryer over on its front. Removed the back panel screws and back panel. Disconnected the wires from the side of the heating element and removed the 2 screws holding the metal housing and pulled the heater housing away from the main housing. Removed the electrical component for use on the new element. Installed the component on the new housing and attached the housing to the main housing. Reconnected the wires, attached the back panel with screws. Set the dryer upright and plugged in the dryer cord into the wall outlet, turned on the dryer and the heat started flowing.

Before ordering the part, I found this website by linking from a video on YouTube where several people showed how they did it. Simply two screws in the lint removel chute and pushed in the two clips holding the top and two inside screws holding the front panel. Held the machine tilted back onto a table and placed two 4" wooden cubes underneath it so it wouldn't come forward and one more 4" cube under the drum. After cleaning out the inside, I slipped the new belt around the drum (ribbed side down) and taped it in place with a couple of pieces of painter's tape temporarily. Hooked the idler wheel guide and looped the belt in it. Tested movement by spinning it by hand to check alignment and removed tape. Reassembled the front, side and top panels accordingly and tested it. Voila! This was my first attempt and I saved myself some bucks. The last repair was done by Se•rs and their service person took my credit card number for the invoice and promptly went out and charged over $3,000 on it. He was eventually caught. Great incentive to do yourself, huh?

I remved the back of dryer, and heating element. I used sop air and blew all residual lint from dryer, I then installed new element, and reinstalled back. I then put dryer back in the house using a new vent hose, I found duct that was pu during house assembly was split so I replaced it as well. Dryer works like it did when we first bout it.

I pried the top of the dryer with a screw driver and then lifted the top of the dryer, I then removed the two screws "with a nutdriver" that held the door in place and then removed the door and drum. I then got the new belt and placed the belt over the drum and positioned the belt through the idler arm and then on the motor pulley. I had to hold the door and drum to lock the bottom of the dryer door to the dryer and then made sure the rear drum seal was in place and the belt did not slip off the motor pulley

Ordered belt, received it two days later. It was a perfect fit.
The top of my dryer pops up from the front where 2 screws will allow the front to drop to the ground. Lift the drum slightly to get the belt on. Had to wrestle with the idler arm for about five minutes, but I won.

Removed the two screws holding in the Filter and removed the filter.

Removed the two screws holding the front onto the dryer.

Put the belt over the drum and proped the drum up.

Reseated the tension spring and pully in the proper slot. (On my machine it is the position closest to the motor).

Reassembled the dryer in the reverse order.

unplug 220 volt plug,,,remove back cover of dryer (8 screws) then remove heating element, two screws to remove the element, disconnect three wires , remove thermal sensor from old element and install on new element, replace, tighten two screws, reconnect three wires, and reinstall back cover of dryer eight screws plug in 220 volt plug, done....( did have to reconnect the vent)

I yanked up the front of the lid, the broken belt laid across the drum like a dead snake. Pulled that out, then removed the two screws holding the front. Using the pliers, pulled off the two wires snapped to the door switch.
Lifted out the front panel, and lifted the drum, (added a bit of a yank to get it out of the two rollers in the back).
Vacuumed out the dust and dead bugs, then tried to figure out how to thread the belt on the idler and motor. (This was the hardest part) the picture that shows the parts is an exploded view, and does not show the way that it goes together. After about half an hour, I asked for help, and we found a slight rubbing on the idler and figured out that the tensioning spring pulls on the lower part of the idler arm, not the top. Putting the belt on, and getting the spring into the hole in the base was tricky, but not hard. Reassembly was straightforward, and took less than 5 minutes. (put in the drum with the belt on it, hook the belt on the motor and idler, push the rear of the drum into the rollers, then put on the front panel, re-attach the door switch, and the two screws holding the front, and close the lid).

Pry up front of top and lay back. Remove two 1/4" srews at top corners. The front of dryer will then swing to the right. The drumb will lift out easily. Remove broken belt. Inspect the drum rollers on the back wall. Replace if loose or not turning. Mine needed replacement. The assembly part is not easy. You need the drum in place and after it is in place you can't get the belt on. After 8 tries I got smart and made a prop to hold the idler pully up, then put the belt in place and let the pully down slowly. It worked! Put the front back on and the 2 screws and pop the top back down. Also it is a good idea to unplug the electric cord and turn off the gas (if app).

Dont go in through the back!! Take the top off then the obvious steps to get to the drum and belt. On the kitchen aid model at least I would advise to make all the hassel of replacing the belt well worth your time to go ahead and buy a new tension pulley with the wheel on it as opposed to the all metal tension pulley. My dryer is much more quiet now and seems to be more efficient.

I waited a two days to get my belt then deciced to get a new tension pulley. Ordered it one day and the next it was at my door. This was well worth my time and effort. Thanks PartSelect!!

Took the top off then front off of the dryer with just 2 screws( thank god not the back) and replaced the belt...had a difficult time getting the tension pully in place, belt kept falling off..the stop screw for the tension pulley was bent ,so had to replace that first.
