DX4500GA3WW General Electric Dryer - Instructions

After reading a slew of scenarios that sounded exactly like my situation, I decided that the logical thing to do was give it a go myself. Everyone mentioned how simple it was--pop off the cover, remove wires, reconnect wires to new starter, and boom--up and running. A $22 part (that came VERY quickly) vs a min $100 repair person house call--and who knows if they would have taken me down that path we all know too well..."well, it's a complicated problem and will need blah, blah, blah, and $$$. Even my wife was impressed at how I "diagnosed" AND fixed the problem easy, quickly, and for a $22 part! Very pleased (with myself, too)!

Installed new knob. No tools required.

When I got the knob in the mail, I opened up the package, made sure the knob was identical to the broken one and pressed the new knob into place. I needed no tools to put the new knob on. It was easier than I thought.

The website is so user friendly, I ordered additional parts I did not need at the moment.

Once I found your web page things went very smoothly and quickly. It was exactly what I wanted and it even came a day early. Obviously, no problem with the repair just put the knob in place.

The knob to start my dryer broke about a year age. I was using pliers to start the dryer. I was sure I would never find a replacement part and it was just a matter of time before the plier trick would break the start knob. I decided to look on line for a replacement knob sure that I wouldn't find one. Clicked on PartSelect, enter General Electric dryer and a bit more simple info and there was the part I needed. Actually, my 18 year old son opened package and placed knob on dryer. Absolutely no problems In fact, company shipped quickly and accurately' very impressed with how easy this repair was.

1. Unplugged dryer
2. Removed 6 phillips screws from back control panel
3. removed wires one at a time and installed on new switch
4. removed knob
5. lift lock lever and rotate switch ccw
6. installed new switch , rotate cw and be sure lock lever secures switch.
7. install back panel and knob

ordered a knob for my dryer. snapped it on. simple.

removed timer knob and replaced with new item

very simple , unplug dryer and unhook the back of the top of dryer using a screwdriver on 6 screws. unhook clip to the rotary starter switch and unhook the three pronged plugs that go to the starter switch. replace new one that snaps into place, plug back in the three wires. screw the back of the dryer back on and your done. 6 minute job that saves you 40-50+ dollars for a repair man plus the extra money they mark up the parts

The start knob had crack in it that was getting bigger, and we'd begun using pliers to start it. Not only was it unwieldy but I thought it would eventually strip the metal stem. Of course this was a breeze of a repair--we just slid the new knob on. But my husband had been certain that finding a replacement knob--or calling a dealing and ordering the part--would be a big deal. I said: "But let's just try on-line." We quickly found the model # inside the dryer door. We filled in the appliance info, the part popped up. I ordered it. It arrived in 2 days. It's like new.
