I was teaching my associate how to do this repair so I showed him how to take off the top of the dryer. Then I showed him how to replace the drum slides. I had him clean out the dryer since we had it apart, and I also showed him how to remove the drum and then reinstall it. This was a very easy repair, and he learned a lot that he otherwise would not have known. Thanks for getting the parts to me so quickly. Rob from Clarks Summit.

dryer wouldn't run
very simple , unplug dryer and unhook the back of the top of dryer using a screwdriver on 6 screws. unhook clip to the rotary starter switch and unhook the three pronged plugs that go to the starter switch. replace new one that snaps into place, plug back in the three wires. screw the back of the dryer back on and your done. 6 minute job that saves you 40-50+ dollars for a repair man plus the extra money they mark up the parts

Loud Grinding Noise
I followed the great tips from the other repairs and that part was easy. Turned out not to be the exact problem. The problem was the rear bearing shaft which in another 20 min I had the drum out and repaired. Now the dryer is like new and will hopefully last another 5 yrs.
Thanks Parts Select for your help!

Drum squeaked and occassionally would not turn, even though the motor ran.
I ordered and replaced the front and rear bearings, including the slides that go on the front bearing. Most of this was un-necessary; replacing the slides would have been sufficient, and much easier to do. Two of the old slides were worn completely away.

We removed the top of the the dryer and then removed the front part. Then put the traps in place, put the other parts of the dryer back on, and turned the dryer back on. Just as simple as that. No extra fees.

Dryer made hig-pitched screech
Took off the top and front of the dryer---really easy, just two screws for each. Put new drum slides (4) on the front/sides of the drum. Then things got a little bit more difficult. Removed the drum entirely, vaccuumed everything out and had to replace the rear bearings. My husband did this part so I can't tell you exactly how he did it. Not too difficult though. The written directions from here were hard to read---need to make a new copy from the original as it's so copied that it's all smudged. Anyway, once we got the new bearings on, we put everything back together. Dryer works like a charm, at a fraction of the cost it would have been to get someone out to do it. Thanks a bunch for the fast service!

The Dryer Start Switch
Imagine that!! Move 3000 miles from home to home and after 90 days in storage, we finally get our things. First the washer, then the dryer. Test, no water, okay...Open valves. It's like magic. Hmmm. Plug the dryer in. No sound, not a peep. Turn the start switch one more time, crack-crack, the knob falls in my hand. Ordered the part and got in 2 days. A few star bolts to remove, unplug 3 wires and presto, it works like magic. Thanks!!!

start button motor not working
After reading a slew of scenarios that sounded exactly like my situation, I decided that the logical thing to do was give it a go myself. Everyone mentioned how simple it was--pop off the cover, remove wires, reconnect wires to new starter, and boom--up and running. A $22 part (that came VERY quickly) vs a min $100 repair person house call--and who knows if they would have taken me down that path we all know too well..."well, it's a complicated problem and will need blah, blah, blah, and $$$. Even my wife was impressed at how I "diagnosed" AND fixed the problem easy, quickly, and for a $22 part! Very pleased (with myself, too)!

Actualy finding the square bit driver was the hardest part of the ordeal.. After that simply removed back panel (3 Screws) removed the existing switch, removed the three wires that went to switch, reinstalled them on new switch, reinstalled new switch into housing and replaced bac panel. Couldnt get any easier! Total time 5 minutes. ...No Brainer!

I followed the directions from the previous post. It was much easier than described. I got the part, removed 4 screws, removed the top, pulled the front and replaced the part. It was all together again in 15 minutes. Dryer sounds great again! I'm so glad I didn't call a repair man!
