FDGC847GFS1 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

First I removed power from dryer. Then I lifted the lid and removed the 2 screws holding the front onto the dryer. I then used a pair of pliers to grip the seal and help pull it off. Cleaned off old adhesive. Recommend getting GOOP BE GONE. Then apply high temp sealant onto area and place seal on top. Press firmly across it to make sure it is in place. Then put it all back together and your done. Also, if upper seal is worn.recommend ordering lower seal at same time. I didn't and should have. Save yourself from doing this twice.

There was a gap between the drum and the front opening. So, we opened the top of the dryer using the putty knife. There are two clips once you find them you just have to push back on them to release the top of the dryer. Then there are two screws that hold the front of the dryer on. Once they are removed the front of the dryer just came off. The kit has glue and instructions past that point and I just followed them.

I First pulled the top panel up and off from the front. Then, on the inside, removed a square head screw from each side holding the front door panel on. I then pulled off the front panel enough to expose the drum. I then removed the old drum glide with a putty knife, and following instructions supplied with the new glide, glued the new glide into place. I then assembled in reverse order of disassembly.

disconnect power and remove front panel and controls.
Remove old belt and reassemble. Had trouble getting the front drum seal with the load bearing glides to fit as trying to replace the screws that supported it. Getting the belt under the motor to the pulley which is beween the mottor and the blower is a trip.
Anyway done and working. Thanks for being there with the poarts at a fair price

I cut off the four that didn't line up - I suppose since this was a gasket that fit several makes, I should expect this type of problem.

replaced rear drum bearing kit. Watched video made it real easy. The only problem was getting the belt back on the pulleys.

I followed the video example which very clearly showed how to do the repair. Much easier than I had expected.

I noticed that the dryer drum had some free play and would allow the clothing to get lodged between the drum and the frame around it. I popped the top off the dryer and found that the lining on top of the frame work that carries the drum was woren out. I got on the web and the parts listings and order the part on a thursday and the part was here the next day in the afternoon. I took the old part off and glued the new part on and left it dry over night. the next day I assembled the dryer and it was back in use. The wife was very happy that no more clothing was getting lodge and ruined.

Followed the instructions in the video. It was very helpful.

Found the promblem as described at this site while looking for diagrams for the dyer. Repair went as described. Once I removed the old upper drum glide I used acetone to remove old glue. Cleaned up fast and easy. Once installed I let cure for about an hour and then reassembled. Let it cure for about an hour more and then I used the dyer. I could feel that the gap around the front of the drum was again narrow so that my finger tip would not slide into a grove. So far so good.

All I had to do was pop in the new door catch. Works perfectly.

Pushed the new knob into place.

removed the old gasket with pliers (noting where the beginning/end of the gasket was) then installed new gasket in the exact location with very light pressure on each rubber insert point. Voila!!

We followed Randy from Anchorage, AK's notes pretty much. Took off the top and front panels. Changed the drum glide and lower seal without any problems. Changing the belt proved more difficult. If it's not broke, I wouldn't change it. If you do, DEFINITELY pay attention to how it is looped around the pulleys before disconnecting it (I would take a photo). Definitely open the back of the dryer to do the belt - otherwise the pulley falls before you see how it is connected

Took front door off, top off, frunt off, removes screws holding rear bearing pivot, and then removed drum. repainted bearing surface on drum, installed parts, let paint dry for a day and reassembled.
