The drum belt was making a squealing noise, and it looked frayed.
After watching the video that explained and showed how to replace the bearing assembly, installation was a breeze. Great company to do business with. Ordered the part and had it in two days, and the dryer was working again asap. Thanks PartSelect
PS this dryer is 23 years old.

drum turning out of balance, due to worn out drum glide top and bottom, and clothes being cougth beteween dryer frame and drum
I removed the top lid, then removed the front panel, to expose top and bottom drum glides attached to panel, then using a carpenter shisel, and cutting knive scraped away the old worn out glides, wiped clean with acetone the area were the new glides were being cemented. all of this thanks to couple of customers that had the same issues on their dryer, and documented step by step their own way to have this done, I just followed thru their experiences.

Washer & dryer are stacked so I had to remove 2 screws connecting dryer to washer and lower dryer to floor. Used scraper blade to release the lid, removed 2 screws and disconnected wire harness to remove front panel. Used chisel to remove seals and "Goof-Off" to dissolve glue residue - it worked great! Carefully cleaned surface, applied glue to seals and clamped to panel. While waiting for glue to set, I removed the drum to replace the bearing assembly (which was in pretty good shape) and vacuumed out the dryer which had a heavy coating of lint (it hadn't been serviced in 10 years). Put everything back together only to find that something was clanging around when the dryer operated (fortunately, I ran the dryer before reinstalling it). Removed the vanes (by removing screw from outside the drum) and found several coins that were causing the problem. All in all, it was a fairly easy project, though using an effective glue solvent, such as Goof-Off was the key to an easy project.

The upper drum glide was worn out
I followed the directions that came with the new Drum Glide kit. Unplugged the machine from the wall outlet. Raised the top of the machine which only required releasing the front top clips. Removed the two screws that hold the front cover on. Unplugged the harness connectors to the controls on the front cover. Pulled the front cover loose from the retaining clip and raised it to release the lower part of the front cover. I then removed both the Glide and the lower seal. Had to use Acetone to remove the old adhesive. Used the adhesive that came in the kit to put the new glide and lower basket seal on. I used small clamps to ensure a good fit as the adhesive cured.
Then I put the front cover on raising the drum in the front to allow it to fit into the front cover. The rest was the reverse of what I did to remove the cover. I feel this is an ease repair. The hardest part is cleaning the old adhesive off.

Loud, piercing screeching from dryer
I followed others instructions on this site to disassemble but felt confident since 2-3 years prior I had replaced the felt top/bottom guides around the drum and the drum belt. The video on this page is also helpful

1) Pop the top with a putty knife
2) Unscrew two screws that hold the front onto the dryer frame
3) Lift front from two clips at bottom of dryer
4) Release tension from belt (unscrew/remove rear access plate)
4) Lift drum up and forward out of dryer
5) Unscrew drum bearing 3x screws from inside of drum
5) Remove the drum bearing holder
6) Pre-thread the rear drum bearing!!! Very important. Thread by screwing a supplied screw slowly through the pre-drilled holes.
7) Attach drum bearing
8) Attach new rear holder/cup & ball bearing (ball bearing goes on outside of plastic cup)
9) Use lots of supplied grease, espeiclly helpful that it acts as a temporary glue holding the ball bearing in place
10) Reverse steps to assemble

I'm glad I bought the entire rear bearing kit as I found the bearing holder had completely worn through and partially melted the metal cup. The ball bearing was missing - gone!

Also found that the power cord had partially melted, so I replaced that from the hardware store. Scary.

I had trouble with the little piece on the back side of the dryer not lining up with the bearing housing. I also didn't see how the drum was gonna stay in place but finally realized the front cover lines it up. All in all it was awesome to get the part I needed so quickly and cheap, thanks a lot.

The dryer has a squeal that got worse.
Pulled the dryer front off to expose the problem. Thought it had a bearing of some type. Went to the PartSelect web site and watched the repair video. The Tech explained everything needed to make the repair. Ordered the parts kit and it arrived in three days by FedEx. Followed the directions. Simple. The video was excellent and made the repair a snap. Thanks.

FOLLOW THE VIDEO!! I was scared to even get into it until I watched the video. Made it easy for me and I have little to no mechanicl skill. Excellent video that made it super easy. Took me an hour as I was taking my time. Now I could probably do the same repair in 20 minutes.

Removed top panel - disconnected harness from front panel- removed front panel- removed access door to belt tensioner on back panel - took belt off tensioner- removed drum removed upper felt with worn glide pads from front panel - removed most of old glue from panel (small file) and glued on new felt strip with glide pads - let sit to cure removed three phillips screws holding rear brg to the drum and removed brg - removed two phillips screws from rear panel holding plastic bracket, supporting bracket and back clip to the rear panel and replaced with new (use a drop of grease to hold the little ball brg in place during installation, make sure you don't loose it) install new brg to the drum (since they are self cutting screw difficult to install throught he drum, I "pre-cut" one of the threads then installed the rear brg to the drum, screw driver was of ratched type with a long extension - filled the plastic bracket with the grease - installed drum and front panel - tensioned the belt - installed top panel and access rear panel - done - I used the opprtunity to vaccum the interior of the dryer, lot of lint ----------------------------------------------------------------- there is a plastic guide on top of the heating elements which is burnt and should have been replaced but I could not find it in a catalogue. small brown burn like marks on clothes.
The online descriptions were very helpful. I used a wooden kitchen fork to pry open the top of the dryer from the front, about 3 inches in from each side. Two metal springs hold the lid. The wire harness was on the right and two disconnects were easy to separate. Remember to disconnect power before you start. On the inside on the left and right sides are two screws which hold the front on. Remove these screws and the front panel will lean forward. Remember to support the drum as you pull the front off. Remove both top and bottom felt seals. I used a putty knife to aid in the removal of seals. Scrap the residue with the putty knife to remove. Run a bead of glue all around and let set for two minutes. Place top drum guide on first, and center on top. Put lower felt seal on next and tie a rope all around on top of felt, to hold in place while glue dries. Let dry for 30 minutes and remove the rope. Reassembly dryer. Test on low heat. It really is easy to do. Celebrate.

Dryer was making a loud squealing noise, brown marks on clothes and making pin holes in some clothes. The clothes would get wrapped around the drum and the door.
Took the drum out, saw that the top part, drum guide was wore and three plastic guides were wore plus broken. Called Partselect to order part and they recommended the replacement of Lower basket seal. Which made sense once we looked at it.

The parts arrived with regular shipping in two days.

Had to remove the worn parts. Make sure the old glue is removed and the service is clean before installing new guide and seal. They include glue with the packet.

We put the new parts on and using finger pressure made sure the guide and seal fit firmly to the drum. We let it sit over night and put the drum back in the next day.

While we were at it the dryer received a thorough cleaning around the parts you cannot get to when the drum is installed.

The dryer now works fine.

Clothes Were Getting Caught In The Drum Seal, Resulting In Burn And Stain Marks.
Reading these hints really helped me to find the right parts and do the replacement. I pulled the dryer out to allow room for the top to flip up and unplugged the power cord. I used the putty knife at the front to pop back the latches under the lid and used the chisel to prop the first latch while I poped the second latch. After raising the lid, I used the chisel to pry off the connectors from the door switch. I used a flashlight and phillips screwdriver to remove the 2 screws inside the front panel. The remaining latches popped free when I pulled the panel straight back; I lifted the panel to remove it from the lower tabs. I forgot to notice the orientation of the seals before removing (doh). I used the chisel to scrape most of the old seals off and an acetone cleaner to disolve the glue. This took about 30 minutes, and the solvent was cleaned and dried off before I glued the new seals on. I used clothes pins at each end of the seals to keep them from slipping off while the glue dried. When I replaced the front panel, the exhaust seal wanted to push up, so I leaned the panel out when inserting into the lower tabs. I replaced the phillips screws and plugged in the door switch and power cord.

Rear Drum Bearing replacement
First I have to say that the video on the Parts Select website was invaluable, it truly made the replacement a no brainer. The kit came with everything I need and was a great price.

Unplug the dryer, mine is a stackable so we had to remove the dry from the top of the washer. I then followed the instructions from the video. The only real difference was that my dryer is that is has dual direction tumbling, so there were 2 idler arms instead of one to move in order to un hook the belt. was pretty easy.

I only needed my husband's help a couple of times because 1. To get the dryer off of the washer. And 2. I didn’t have the reach to install the new bearing on the back of the drum.

Removed dryer top. Unscrewed the screw from each side inside the dryer the ones below the control panels. Don't unscrew those you will just have to put them back. Insert a flathead screw driver on the left side to loosen the front panel and slide it gently to the right. You can replace the drum glide without disconnecting any of the wires. Remove old drum glide and clean. Install new one and while the glue dries clean inside the dryer. Mine was very dirty!!!! Put everthing back and your ready to go. Don't forget to hook back the dryer vent. Thank you partselect my dryer is almost like new and is drying so much faster, no more noise and you have saved me lots of money.
