You need a properly sized hex (Allen) wrench to get the screws out. Basically simple: remover bottom roller tray, unscrew large plastic holding bolt, remove lower spray arm, unscrew bolts (be sure the wrench is sized right or you might strip the heads), and replace gasket; then reverse procedure. Chances are if the gasket was bad, it will be very obvious (out of circular slot and stretched).

I ordered door cover kit #4387043. It comes with new door cover (lid), new pin, spring, latch and snap. Two problems I encountered was 1)with the spring - there is a trick to replacing it. I had to look up how to put the spring on properly. Go to YouTube and Partselect "Dishwasher Repair - Replacing the Lid Spring (Whirlpool Part # 8066018) " will show you the trick. Was a cinch after I knew the trick. 2) you must take door apart to replace snap that goes with the latch, so you might want to replace the detergent door first and see if that solves your problem without changing the latch. It is workable, but I had to go on line and look for diagram to put back together. Just frustrating but for less than $20.00 solved the problem. Good luck.

Dishwasher Stopped then only made a humming noise. Started with the Video on your site and it was quite helpful. I had trouble holding the drain impeller with the wrench. Used a drill to bore holes around the center and then broke the outer ring off to get a good hold on the center. Then was able to remove the bolt. The rest of the repair was easy. Something had caught the chopper blade and unraveled the spring. Replaced all the parts and it is working fine now.

Ordered the drain and wash impeller/chopper kit, which I received in 2 days. Great service. I watched the video on how to install the parts and the video was very clear and made the job seem easy. And it was easy, except for getting the impeller screw out. The impeller top was very brittle and pieces kept breaking off when trying to hold it with the adjustable wrench. Robo Grips didn't work any better. The only thing that finally got that screw out was a long handled socket wrench with an extension. You need the extra leverage if the screw is really stuck. Also note that the balls are definitely in the wrong place in the video. You need to remove them when doing the repair, then drop them back into the hole in the gasket/seal cover for the impeller after it is replaced. They will sit side-by-side if installed correctly. Turns out that the crunching/grinding noise was the chopper trying to chop up one of the clips that holds the silverware basket on the bottom rack. It was in many small pieces and had ripped up and split the impeller shaft.The dishwasher is back together and running perfectly. The repair was fairly simple and made easier with an installation video. The repair went well and there's no more leak.

Initially, I was going to call a repair-person to fix the dishwasher, but decided to check and see what was available on-line. I was very surprised to find a video on YouTube for my specific model. Even more surprising was the relative ease to perform the repairs, after watching the video. I have the proper tools, so I disassembled, per the video and found the problem. I was elated to see how easy it was to order the parts kit. It came in three days, and within 1/2 hour after parts arrival, I had the dishwasher purring like a kitten. What an excellent service. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can fix your appliance, via these well-done videos.

I looked in the bottom of the dishwasher after browsing the website regarding possible solutions. When I removed the bottom spray arm I noticed three screws missing from the pump housing. The loose pump outlet had allowed the seal to push out. Ordered-Normal shipping on the part.

I installed the opener spring in the direction it was needed to open the door then installed the pin. I placed the door in the position it goes and took a pair of pliers and squeezed the pin into the pin slot. the spring has to be forced into a tension position. I did this by sliding the spring to one side and forcing it into position, the other side is done the same way. works great

I simply looked at the remaining spring to see which notch it needed to be attached to. I went in very well using a long needle nose plier. Works great.

Used the diagram and disassembled and reassembled.Used most parts that were in kit as it also fit other models and did not need all the parts.

Performed repair as to Video shown in receipt after purchase of spring plus we used a friend who has same dishwasher and has performed the same repair recently, video was easier to follow though. All you do is push off lid with a screwdriver and pop off as per instructions on video then unlatch spring from ledge and pull off post, then just reinsert new spring in reverse order or follow video instructions either way is easy and takes about 15-20 minutes to install

Put on new door, making sure the spring was set to flip the detergent door open in order for the detergent to properly do the dishes

Turn off the breaker to the dishwasher - there will be water very near the motor and other electrical components. I first scooped and towelled all the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher. The drain valve can be accessed from the bottom front of the dishwasher without pulling the unit out from under the counter. There were 4 screws to remove the 2 bottom metal panels. Next use pliers to loosen and slide back the hose clamp connected to the drain. Have a towel ready and pull the drain hose off the white check valve. The check valve can then be removed by unscrewing it - you may need to use pliers. Put the new one on and everything back together.

Unscrewed the old one and replaced it with the new one. My wife actually ordered this Pat and repaired the dishwasher.
