researched whirlpool and online resources for NO WATER IN DISHWASHER
Thanks to all the people who video their repairs and such. Found the part number from whirlpool online resource then ask you tube for video of anyone who had this issue with this part and video taped their repair. Found video then went online to see where can I purchase this part. I chose Part Select. The part came in within a few days. Went back to video and watched as I replaced the part. Not one issue came up. If only all issues in life could be solved so easily.

Dishwaster would not reliably start. Just blue flashing light
Removing the door was straightforward. However, when the door panel was removed, I grabbed the door and my finger touched and pressed on something on the right side. This is an optical collector which focuses 3 lights (red, blue, green) into a visible slot. After I reinstalled the door, the lights were not visible. I had to disassemble the door a few times and bend this optical collector into the right position. Basically, I bent the collector into the door, so I needed to bend the collector away from the door. And now, everything is fine.

Door counterbalance cable broken
Remove two screws on retainer clips holding dishwasher to counter and pulled out dishwasher. Slide new nylon cord mounting clip into slot where old part is located, rethread the cord around pulleys and attach end to spring. Need pliers to pull and stretch spring. This was the hardest part of the job but not very difficult. Push dishwasher back into counter and replace the two screws into the hold down clips under counter top. Whole job took 20 minutes.

One side of the door spring link was broken.
I've had to do this repair at least twice before over the last few years so I stand by my original assertion that the door "balance link kit" reflects very poor design. Well, maybe the design would be okay if the materials were not prone to breakage. However, a simpler spring-only mechanism would have been more reliable. The current design uses string embedded in plastic that latches to a hook area for both sides of the door (frame). The string is threaded around a hub and then to a spring that is in turn connected to the chassis at a rather distant point which also adds to the difficulty due to requiring greater access to the dishwasher sides. It would be much better if the repair could be done without necessitating removal of the entire unit from the cabinet cavity first. I noted that this time around there's been a redesign so that the hub is no longer a round fixed knob but now includes a rotatable wheel. So perhaps there'll now be less wear on the strings that with the prior design! -- D.A.D

One side of the door balance link broke.
One side of the door balancer broke. I pulled out the dishwasher and made a really strong one out of wire rope and clamps. 2 weeks later it broke again, so I ordered the link kit. I received it in a couple of days. But when I pulled out the dishwasher to replace my broken part I discovered that the original part on the other side broke. I put one of the new parts on the broken side and left my part on the other. I want to see which one lasts the longest.

Counterbalance spring link broken
I removed the 2 screws that held the dishwasher under the counter. Pulled the dishwasher out and easily replaced the replacement link. I slid the dishwasher back under the counter and replaced the 2 screws. Everything now works as it should

broken link - plastic piece attached to string
The repair packet contained 2 links with new pulley plastic pieces. It said to replace all of the parts. I could see that the old plastic pulley part only used 1 pulley. They had re-engineered to add a second pulley.
Changed out parts with no issues.

door squeeking right after waranty expired
This kit repaired the loud squeeking immediately. Worth the money because with this kit both wheels turn, so that the loud squeeking door noise wont come back. Dont waste money on the OEM kit.

The door on the dishwasher drops open
Removed the bottom cover with the nut driver. Removed the two screws attaching the top of the dishwasher to the underside of the cabinet. With the wrench lowered the front of the dishwasher so that it would slide out of the cabinet. Once out the balance cables could be seen and were replaced. Attach the cable to the door, feed it around the new and improved bracket (part of the kit), attach to the spring and then attach the spring to the back of the lower rail. Repeat on the other side. Reinstall the dishwasher. This took longer than all the rest of the job due to the poor work done by the home builder's plumber in the original install. Replace the front cover and sound shield. All and all very easy.

The door tension system failed.
Chronic problem with KitchenAid dishwasher -- the connection between the tensioning spring on each side and the dishwasher door are two cheap twine-and-plastic assemblies. Opening and closing the door stresses the twine, and eventually it breaks on one side or the other. The only way to fix it is to replace the twine-and-plastic assembly, which is really simple to do once the replacement part is received. Takes longer to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter than it does to replace the part. In seven years, this is the fifth time one of these parts has failed.

String holding Dishwasher door in static position broke
Removed screws holding dishwasher to countertop and pulled dishwasher out about a foot from the cabinets. Spring had jumped out of position on one side where door opens and closes. String was broken. Used old string to thread new string onto pulley wheels. did not replace the wheels in the kit since they did not appear to be damaged.

Rope break on the door balance system
Pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet, set the rope with the plastic ends on the spring and lever for the door and pulled the spring into it's holder and returned the washer into the cabinet. I ordered the part on the 27 in the morning and it got here on the 28th in the afternoon. Local part store wanted $40.00 for the same kit and I got it from you at less than 25.00. I also got to skip the service fee which would probably be about 65 dollars.

The cord broke on the link.
I put the spring back in place, attached the cord/link, then it took two of us to attach the other end of the link. It took a lot of pull to attach the second end of the link, however very simple to accopmlish.
