How to Fix an Electronic Control Board for a Washer With Filling Issues

The electronic control board is the brain of the washer, overseeing all the washer’s operations. A faulty control board means that your washer’s parts will receive incorrect signals from the board and cannot perform as intended. As a result, your washer may fill up partially, overfill, or not fill up at all.

What is the Electronic Control Board?

The electronic control board monitors the washer’s functions after you choose its cycle settings. It receives input from the user interface control board and collects information from the other parts of your washer.

Where is the Electronic Control Board?

It is in your washer’s console panel.

How to Access, Remove, and Inspect the Electronic Control Board

  1. As with all repairs, begin by unplugging your washer. If you have a gas washer, shut off the gas supply and disconnect the gas lines.
  2. Additionally, be sure to turn off your hot and cold water supplies.
  3. Shift your washer away from the laundry room wall.
  4. Place a towel underneath the hose connection to catch any water that leaks out.
  5. Loosen the metal fittings on the hoses, both at the back of the washer and at the faucets, with hose pliers.
  6. RLoosen any screws securing the console to detach it from the washer. If you have a front-load washer, you may need to remove its top cover.
  7. Disconnect the wire connectors from the control board. If they are secured by a retainer or a locking tab, you can release them using a flathead screwdriver.
  8. Detach the air pressure tube from the control board.
  9. Loosen any mounting screws securing the control board.
  10. Remove the control board from the console panel. If it is secured by a selector knob, remove the knob by pulling it off its shaft.
