Product Description

The lid latch is a safety feature found in your washer. Its purpose is to stop the machine from spinning when the lid is opened. You may need to replace the lid latch assembly if your washer will not start, the lid will not close, or the lid will not open. This is a genuine OEM part, and to do this repair you will need a 1/4-inch nut driver and small flat blade screwdriver. You will also need to disconnect the power and water supply from your washer before beginning.

I have replaced the lid lock and the engaging motor. The lid light stays ON won't go OFF. Can You Help?
For model number WTW5700XW0
Fix.com logo
Hello Gregory, Thank you for the question. We suggest resetting the Switch. Locate the lid lock switch underneath the top panel. Secure a strong magnet between the switch and the panel. Reattach the top panel and restore power to the washer before repositioning it. Lift the washer lid. If the washer resumes operation, the lock is successfully bypassed. If the Whirlpool washer lid won’t unlock, you may need to reposition the magnet. We hope this helps!

for repair instructions: unplug washer so you don't get electrified is the first step, Then turn of water supply and remove the hoses. Now remove the back panel, should be three screws. Also remove the other to screws to raise the top. And there should be one other screw that holds a plate on remove as well. Don't worry about mixing up th e screws they should all be the same size. Now raise the top and remove the 2 screws that hold the lid latch. Follow the wire to the back of washer and unplug the lid latch.
