My brushes appear to be stuck when trying to remove through the opening. do I have to disassemble the motor housing to replace these?

Hi Mark, thank you for reaching out. No, you rarely have to disassemble the whole motor housing, but you must free the stuck brush to avoid damaging the motor. Carbon brushes stick due to carbon dust buildup, heat distortion, or a damaged brush holder. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers or tweezers to gently grab the brush clip. Apply light pulling pressure while gently wiggling it side to side. Press down on the brush with a small flathead screwdriver and release quickly to see if the internal spring pushes it out.
