I have to spin the motor a couple times by hand before it will start. Is this the brushes in the motor?

Hello Gary, thank you for contacting us. Yes, the issue is most probably related to the carbon brushes, part number FIX10156641. They conduct the electrical current between both the stationary and rotating wires inside the motors. When faulty, it makes the starting of motors difficult.
