Product Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement part. This spark ignition electrode is what lights the gas that starts the burner on your range or cooktop. This electrode is part of the burner assembly, it sits next to the burner head, and it is just over an inch in length. It pulls current from the ignition circuit, the more current it pulls the warmer it gets, when it reaches a certain temperature it creates a spark. This electrode comes with the mounting bracket you will need to successfully install the part. Before installing your new part shut off the gas supply and unplug your appliance.

One of the 4 igniter's works poorly.
It could be simple enough. You remove the black metal difuser plate, then remove the 2 screws holding the gas dispersing unit down. My problem started here, when the screw striped. I drilled the screw out thinking I could get on it after to extract the rest. That did not work. Then once I flipped over the unit to remove the one small screw holding in the spark ignition electrode, that rusted screw also stripped. No repair, I put it back together with the old electrode still in place and the one good screw i was able to remove and will continue using a lighter to light the burner.

Replace failed igniter in Amana cook top model
The two screws retaining the burner were heavily rusted and frozen in place. I used standard procedures for removing - spray WD-40, impact top of screw two or three times with old Phillips screwdriver, wait. With good screwdriver turn screw few degrees counter clockwise, few degrees clockwise, repeat at gradually increasing amplitude unti l screw came free. The screw retaining the igniter to the bottom face of the burner was similarly frozen but yielded to same procedure. I was lucky that the screws were not so rusted that their strength was inadequate for the procedure.

One of the top burners on the gas range would not light and the range burner grate bumper pads were worn out.
To replace the spark ignition electrode all you have to do is 1 Take the little cap off the burner. 2 There are two screws holding the burner to the range--remove them. 3 There is one screw holding the spark ignition electrode to the bottom of the burner take that screw off and remove the electrode from the burner. Warning- DO NOT TAKE THE WIRE OFF THE OLD ELCTRODE AND DROP IT OR IT WILL FALL DOWN INTO THE TOP OF THE RANGE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TOP OF THE RANGE OFF TO GET IT AGAIN. 4 Take the wire off the old electrode and put it on the new electrode without letting the wire go. (See warning above) For the bumper pads take old bumper pads out of burner grates and install new ones.

Spark Igniter was cracked and would not ignite the burner
Removed the burner and electrical lead with igniter per instructions. When new igniter was installed, the burner did ignite, however one and sometimes an additional burner would not ignite. I tried all four burners in various order and it was hit or miss if I could get all four light. Sometimes I got 2 burners and 2 did not Sometimes o nly 1 would work or 3 burners would work. A few times 4 burners would work although not as often as the other combinations. Repair did not go that well.

R&R Amana stove top igniter
It appears easy on paper,b but the KEY TIP was from your previous custome. Beware not to strip the little screws! That really saved my bacon. When I noticed that I might strip the head, I proceeded with caution. Used liquid wrench, waited a day, and worked it out slowly. Did not need to drill head of screw out. This saved me!
