This power cord is used for power tools and some of the following tools: electric drills, reciprocating saws, jig saws, biscuit joiners, and routers. The power cord is made for double insulated tools and is a two-wire cord with two prongs, but it does not need a ground wire. If there are cuts in the cord insulation, intermittent power during operation, or damaged and bent prongs, then replacing the power cord will solve the problem. The tools needed for this repair are a Phillips screwdriver, small screwdriver, wire cutters/strippers, crimping tool, and terminal (ring or spade). Repair tip: During installation, remember that new cord wires must go correctly into wire terminals. Also, to avoid pinching when the tool case is put back into place, remember to route cord and wires in the right path.

This is a brush and spring for your power tools. This brush is sold individually, and two are needed for most power tools. We recommend replacing both brushes together for an even wear. When your brush wears down it will greatly affect your motor function by reducing the power and electric braking. When making this repair we recommend inspecting the armature for cracks or visible damage that would mean other motor problems. Carbon brushes are the most commonly replaced power tool part. This part is meant to wear out over time through the constant contact.

Genuine Manufacturer Sourced replacement part. This item is made out of Carbon with a Lead Wire attached. This item includes One (1) Carbon Brush per order. It is recommended to replace both Carbon Brushes when replacing one. Please note Brush Holder and Spring are Sold Separately. Carbon motor brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool components. Because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away, they will eventually require replacement. Worn brushes are common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking, and reduced motor power. A worn out brush will often be worn down near the wire lead and may be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to also inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which indicates a larger motor problem.

This is a cord protector, but it is also called a strain relief, and it is used with multiple power tools. This part is made of firm rubber to protect the cords from being pulled out or exposed, which would be a safety hazard. Over time the strain relief can develop cracks and break into pieces. This part is black and 4 inches long. The smallest end has a diameter of 0.5 inches. When completing this repair tuck in all wires to avoid pinching.

Old worn cord shorting out.
Remove the four screws and carefully separate the casing at the trigger handle. Disconnect the terminals by lifting the switch slightly, just enough to remove the inside terminal. Needle nose pliers will make it easier to remove the terminals. Slip the cord protector over the new cord. Cut the two new wires to the proper length. I measured the old connectors for proper fit. Strip a half inch off the insulation, carefully crimp and solder the wires to each terminal, reconnect the terminals, reposition the cord protector, align and snap the casing back together, and replace the four screws. Plug it in and test for proper operation. Read more...

This is a strain reliever for your power tools. It found at the meeting place between your cord, and the outer tool housing. The relief is an important part for your power tool because it protects your cord from tearing and breaking due to constant pressure. Keep your relief in good condition because it will extend the life of the cord, and the machine overall.
