This carbon brush holder is commonly used in jig saws, electric drills, and sand polishers to hold the carbon brushes in place. This holder works to hold the carbon brush in place so it can effectively and efficiently transfer electricity into the motor. The carbon brushes are located at the rear of the motor, one on each side. As the brushes wear down you will begin to lose function of the motor, which is why they are the most common part replaced on most power tools.
