ASSEMBLY-PISTON/DRIV

This is a manufacturer-approved piston assembly, which includes an assembled piston and driver. The function of the piston is to push the driver down the cylinder, which drives nails into the object being worked on. The most typical reason the piston assembly needs to be replaced is because the driver is damaged. The tip of the driver tends to deteriorate over time, causing the nails to jam. If your nailer is no longer driving nails properly, this should be one of the first things checked, especially if you hit something hard, such as concrete or metal.

FIX12420389
Manufacturer Part Number
180448
This is an OEM replacement O-ring for a nailer, sold individually. This O-ring is what seals the cylinder to the housing of the gun and creates separation between the upper and lower air chambers. Due to its rubber material, over time, it can wear. For this repair you will need to remove the cap, disassemble the head valve, remove the spring, and remove the old O-ring. Apply some lubrication to the new O-ring and place it on the valve.
PISTON-HEAD VALVE

Fix Number
FIX12398369
Manufacturer Part Number
174054
If air is leaking from your nail gun exhaust, you may be in need of a new piston head valve. The head valve is what regulates the air flow into the cylinder. This OEM head valve is sold individually. Over time, the seals on this plastic part can harden and break, and the valve body itself can also break. For this simple repair, start by removing the head from the nail gun, and then remove the worn valve from the head. There will be O-rings on the valve, which should be inspected and removed, this is a good opportunity to assess their condition, and replace them if needed. They are sold separately. You will then remove the steel washer located in the bottom of the head valve. The O-rings can now be reassembled back onto the new part, and you can begin to reinstall everything.

180450-S
This is a manufacturer-approved replacement head valve and is sold independently. It controls the amount of air that enters the cylinder when the trigger is initiated. This action creates an imbalance in pressure between the cylinder and the air reservoir, allowing the head valve to open, firing the piston. The head valve can harden and crack and the valve body itself can break too. This will usually become obvious because air will leak from the gun exhaust. To access this part for the repair, you will need to remove the top cap from the nail gun.

It is common for this part to get brittle and break off. To remove the damaged contact foot, use a screwdriver to pry it off. This is a genuine Bostitch replacement part that fits all BT brad nailers and all S32 staplers. If trigger leaks air or if tool misfires often, try replacing trigger valve. This kit contains one (1) each of: valve assembly (including both O-rings), lubricant, spring pin punch, and repair instructions. Please note that two (2) O-rings are included but can also be purchased separately as parts # 106967 and # 86459. O-rings are easily damaged and worn out, causing tool issues, so it\\\'s a good idea to have a backup or two on hand. Only a hammer is needed for this repair.
