This is a cord protector, also known as a strain relief, for your power tool. This part will slip into place at the end of your cord, snug against your power tool. The durable rubber will protect the base of your cord from being bent, pinched, or exposed. This part will eventually wear down and potentially crack or snap off, and exposed wire is a hazard. We recommend replacing the cord protector when damage is visible.

Genuine OEM sourced replacement part used on a variety of power tools. Ball bearings are used to reduce friction between rotating parts. Bearings experience constant wear when the tool is in operation, because of this they need to be periodically checked and replaced if needed. This part is made out of metal and it is sold individually. Included in part number 381004-00 spindle assembly.

This is a cord protector, but it is also called a strain relief, and it is used with multiple power tools. This part is made of firm rubber to protect the cords from being pulled out or exposed, which would be a safety hazard. Over time the strain relief can develop cracks and break into pieces. This part is black and 4 inches long. The smallest end has a diameter of 0.5 inches. When completing this repair tuck in all wires to avoid pinching.

Old worn cord shorting out.
Remove the four screws and carefully separate the casing at the trigger handle. Disconnect the terminals by lifting the switch slightly, just enough to remove the inside terminal. Needle nose pliers will make it easier to remove the terminals. Slip the cord protector over the new cord. Cut the two new wires to the proper length. I measured the old connectors for proper fit. Strip a half inch off the insulation, carefully crimp and solder the wires to each terminal, reconnect the terminals, reposition the cord protector, align and snap the casing back together, and replace the four screws. Plug it in and test for proper operation. Read more...

This is a brush spring and it is used in a variety of power tools. The spring applies force to the motor brush inside the motor. This will keep the brush tight along the armature. If the brush has worn down it will create heat, and the spring will lose tension. If this happens, both parts will have to be replaced.

This is a single OEM carbon brush. Two are needed to make a set, so if you require two, order accordingly. Carbon brushes are used to conduct electricity to the armature through its commutator. Brushes are a common wear part that will need to be replaced periodically due to consistent rubbing against the rotating commutator. Worn brushes can cause sparks around the commutator, which can also cause damage to the armature, which should also be inspected. If your electric motor is experiencing issues, the brushes should be one of the first things you check.

FIX18989568
Manufacturer Part Number
90640340
Genuine Manufacturer Sourced replacement part used on some Black and Decker Power Tools. This item is sold individually. Purchasing a charger will be less expensive than buying a new tool. Please note that a weak or defective battery can damage the charger. Weak batteries are batteries with bad cells. These type of batteries will not hold a charge. It will send a message to the charger to keep charging. This will eventually cause the charger to overheat and potentially smoke.

This power cord is used for power tools and some of the following tools: electric drills, reciprocating saws, jig saws, biscuit joiners, and routers. The power cord is made for double insulated tools and is a two-wire cord with two prongs, but it does not need a ground wire. If there are cuts in the cord insulation, intermittent power during operation, or damaged and bent prongs, then replacing the power cord will solve the problem. The tools needed for this repair are a Phillips screwdriver, small screwdriver, wire cutters/strippers, crimping tool, and terminal (ring or spade). Repair tip: During installation, remember that new cord wires must go correctly into wire terminals. Also, to avoid pinching when the tool case is put back into place, remember to route cord and wires in the right path.
