This allows continuous trimming without having to stop often and replace broken string lines. With normal use, these covers can break or crack and will require a replacement. weed eater spool head had to be replaced.
had to pull the whole moter housing apart and clean everything as your taking it apart. when you finialey get at the moter thier is a small tabe on the end of moter shaft that you can grabe with a small pair of vice-grips and hold the shaft still while you unscrew the spool head off. when your putting the moter back in the plastic housing there are two small foam cushings that have to go exzacktley in lower lips of plastic moter casings. so remember where those foam go or mark them with a marker when your taking everthing apart. i also forgot - there is a very small nut that is in the spool head that screws onto the shaft when you are taking the head off. be very very carfull you dont lose it. good luck. This is a single OEM replacement cover for string trimmers. The cover, also sometimes referred to as a cap, works with the spool line assembly to allow line to feed out while trimming, keeping it secure inside the housing. It is common for the cover to wear or crack over time. For this simple repair, press and hold the two latches and pull the cover away from the spool holder. This is a good time to clean all the areas of the cover and spool. Now, to replace this part, press down towards the spool holder to secure the new cover. To ensure it is securely in position, try removing it without pressing down on the latches.
