Tip: When installing, open the package it comes in and add a little of the two-cycle oil in the bag, then allow it to absorb into the filter. Primer and Hose Assembly

This is a primer and hose assembly, and it is used on various lawn equipment. The assembly comes with two parts. The first is the hose which is almost 5 inches long, and less than a 1/4 inch thick. The second part is the primer bulb or primer pump, and that is 2 inches long, and 1 inch wide, with a round bulb head. Together, the primer and hose assembly fill the carburetor with fuel to give your machine a quicker start. After time, your hose will crack and your primer will lose elasticity. Both will have to be replaced when this happens. Before starting this repair make sure to drain the fuel from the tank, and remove the spark plug.

Spark Plug

This is a spark plug, and it is used in a variety of outdoor equipment. The spark plug ignites the fuel in the engine by producing a small spark. This part is RDJ7Y, meaning it is a resistor type, with a shell design thread size of 14mm, reach of 13/40-inch (tapered seat), and 5/8-inch hex. The heat range is 7 for automotive, small engine, and ordnance, with a standard projected core nose. If this part has fouled (the tip is burnt or damaged) you will need to replace it. If the engine is not starting or is running poorly, you may need a new spark plug. We recommend draining the fuel from the tank, and removing the spark plug before making repairs on your machine.

Trimmer Carburetor

A carburetor basically consists of an open pipe through which the air passes into the inlet manifold of the engine. The pipe is in the form of a Venturi: it narrows in section and then widens again, causing the airflow to increase in speed in the narrowest part. Below the Venturi is a butterfly valve called the throttle valve ' a rotating disc that can be turned end-on to the airflow, so as to hardly restrict the flow at all, or can be rotated so that it (almost) completely blocks the flow of air. This valve controls the flow of air through the carburetor throat and thus the quantity of air/fuel mixture the system will deliver, thereby regulating engine power and speed. The throttle is connected, usually through a cable or a mechanical linkage of rods and joints. Fuel is introduced into the air stream through small holes at the narrowest part of the Venturi and at other places where pressure will be lowered when not running on full throttle.
