Dishwasher not completely draining
My dishwasher wasn't completely draining, so after consulting online I decided to start with the least expensive (possible) solution, the Drain Check Valve with O-Ring. I discovered after I'd removed the old valve, that there is a filter inside of the valve and my old valve was clogged with all kinds of nasty stuff. (Don't try to remove

the stuff--just spring for a new part.) Accessing the valve was easy, as it is in the front part of the dishwasher and with my dishwasher, it was a matter of simply removing the front lower panel (four screws). These panels are under the door of the dishwasher, NOT the door itself. The valve was right in front, under the dishwasher, and the drain hose is attached to it using a clip. I used the pliers to squeeze the ends of the clip holding the hose onto the valve (and the flat head screw driver to push the clip out of the way) so I could remove the hose. Oh, did I mention you'll need towels? You will, as removing this hose will leak stinky water from the valve. Once hose is removed and water mopped up, unscrew the old valve (lefty loosey) and replace it with the new valve. Screw it in (righty tighty), but don't over tighten, as the threads are plastic and you don't want to strip them. Push the hose back onto the end of the new valve and use the pliers (and flat head screw driver) to replace the clip back where it was. If you use the screw driver to move the clip, be careful you don't puncture the hose! Replace the front panels and test your dishwasher. The most difficult part of this entire process was scrambling for the rags as the water started to dribble after I'd removed the hose, and getting off the floor.

Dishwasher would not drain
I looked on-line to find video help. There is plenty out there. The mechanical work was not difficult. The difficulty I experienced was getting the primary bolt to come off of the motor shaft. I was warned in one of the video that this part gets wet and will have some rust. They were right. I had to cut the wash impeller off of t

he shaft. Other than that it was really easy.

Would not drain
Tried the impeller kit first with no luck. The drain check valve was easy to access by removing the lower front panels. You do not have to move the dishwasher. Turn power off. Valve is visible. Remove hose clamp, then hose. Back old valve out with pliers. I cleaned some grit out of the hole. Install new valve, watch for o-ring not getting

twisted. Re-install hose. I turned the hose clamp around so it is easier to tighten up. Works fine now.

Water not draining and not completing wash cycle
1. Drained water from base of dishwasher using syringe and sponge. 2. Shut off electric power to dishwasher. 3. Unscrewed top front of dishwasher from cabinet. 4. Rolled dishwasher out from under cabinet. 5. Put small drain pan and towel under dishwasher. 6. Using pliers, slid drain hose clamp down drain hose and slowly removed drain

hose from check valve housing. 7. Using paper towel wrapped around check valve housing, unscrewed it by hand. 8. Inspected check valve and found some debris inside and removed it. 9. Wiped end of drain hose and blew it out, there was some restriction but not completely plugged. 10. Reinstalled and tested in reverse order. 11. Dishwasher sometimes runs and drains but "STILL DOES NOT" complete a cycle and leaves water in bottom. Replacing the check valve was easy. You need to take care when rolling the unit out of its compartment to get at the check valve and drain hose. The electrical cord, drain hose and water fill copper tubing all just slide out with the dishwasher, then slide back in once the repair is made. I just ordered a new/used timer in hopes it will solve the problem, if not it may be time to trade the old girl. Lew

Replaced Broken Drain Check Valve
I unscrewed the drain check valve. It is only tightened hand tight, so no tool was required. I screwed in the new valve and used pliers to open the hose clamp and slide it onto the drain hose and over the drain valve. That was it: a five minute job.
