motor stops running
You have to disassemble the entire chainsaw to swap old motor for new motor. You need a T15 hex bit, 2.5mm security hex bit and phillips screwdriver. Remove the battery. Remove chainsaw bar and chain. Remove every screw in the housing. Remove the clip on the motor shaft. If everything does not come apart easily then you may have missed a screw. Remove screws holding the motor and gear case in. Open the gear case. Remove the gears. Remove the screws inside the gear case attaching it to the motor. Attach the gear case to the new motor. Reassemble the gear case and attach to the housing. Route the wires and switch to the appropriate locations. Reassemble housing. Reattach bar and chain.

Motor died, needed replacing
There's not much out there to tear the machine apart. I previously replaced the input gear assembly which meant taking everything apart. I was careful to take photos of how things looked before disassembling and that helped somewhat. It's not hard, you just need to be observant how the wires tuck into the slotted recesses so they don't b ind when re-assembling. Housings may need some wiggling and jiggling to get aligned but if everything's in its place the exterior housings enclosing the motor assembly and the larger shells will go together nicely; if the parts don't seem to be going together right there's something in the way binding it up. If I had to do the entire process again it probably would take about 30 minutes but I'm slow at these things and it took more like an hour or more. Good news is the chainsaw works like it should with a new motor. I have one body screw left over that goes somewhere and that's a little troubling but not losing sleep over it.

brushes in motor ate into stator
Use the image of the parts blowup to see where each of the screws go to reassemble the saw after replacing the motor.

The motor is the heart of the unit so I had to take apart the entire saw to get to it.

Took around an hour.

You will need a torx bit (T25 if I recall correctly)
two of the screws have a tamperproof torx head but I was able to break off the center pin to then use a regular torx bit on those as well.
