This is an evaporator fan motor, located in the freezer compartment. It is sold as a single unit. It is responsible for moving air over the evaporator coils as the compressor is running. When this part is faulty you may hear loud sounds coming from the freezer area, your refrigerator may not stay as cold as normal, or the ice might take longer to freeze. This 115-volt 60Hz evaporator fan motor measures approximately 6.75 inches deep, 3.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches high. Do not forget to disconnect the power to the refrigerator before you begin this repair.

Product Description

This is an evaporator fan motor, located in the freezer compartment. It is sold as a single unit. It is responsible for moving air over the evaporator coils as the compressor is running. On this model there are two fans top and bottom, is the motor the same? Is this something the home owner could replace? Thanks

Hello Ted, Thank you for the question. The Top fan is the Evaporator Fan, Fix Number: FIX10063450 and the bottom is the Condenser Fan, Fix Number: FIX11721902. The Fan motors are different. Most customers have been able to perform the repair on their own. We hope this helps!

Noisey fan
Unplug power, remove several parts to access the fan motor located at the back of the freezer section. Disconnect fan motor. Remove impeller from motor shaft. Reassemble all parts. Very easy repair.

Noisy Freezer
Removed all content of freezer. Unplugged refrigerator. Removed ice rack and back deflector panel including Styrofoam piece. Removed freezer back panel. All simple push and pull or screw attachments. Unplugged motor connector and ground wire. Removed fan bracket with nut driver. Unit was then removed from freezer to conduct replac ements. Removed fan blade (simple ring clip and pull off of motor shaft. Replaced items in bracket (required nut driver). Reinstalled all items. First time fix and worked slowly because of unfamiliar with the process. Total start to finish was less than an hour.

Refrigerator Not Cooling
1) Run Capacitor. Disconnected electrical power plug from the wall socket. Located the Run Capacitor in bottom rear of refrigerator, disconnected the retainer spring, pulled the wasted run capacitor off and plugged the new one into the slot and replaced the retainer spring. 2) Motor AC/DC Evaporator Fan. Opened top freezer door. Removed t he shelving by carefully sliding the shelving pins upward and into the recessed slots for easy removal. Used Phillip's head screw driver to remove two screws holding the face guard in place and the 6" Crescent wrench to remove the bracket holding the fan motor to the bracket and the Phillip's head screw driver to remove two screws holding the bracket to the inside rear of the freezer. Unplugged the wasted motor AC/DC Evaporator Fan and plugged the new one into its place. Reinstalled all hardware as it came out. Refrigerator is now working like new. Simple and easy project saved me $100s of dollars fro having to purchase a new Refrigerator. My significant other was happy that it worked so well and saved $$. She was happy and went to Walmart shopping with the savings and brought me a pizza home. Everyone was a winner. Paul and Kimberly Juliana

Very Noisy Intermitent Evaporator Fan
I just followed the "how to" videos which were very helpful with one exception. I turned off the circuit breaker in the garage rather than pull the fridge out from the wall to unplug it which was easier. This also eliminated the need to raise the leveling feet so the rollers would touch the floor for a pull out. I replaced the grommets and the fan blade as well but really didn't need to as the motor was the culprit. Works like new now and an expensive service call was avoided.

freezer fan extremely loud, knocking-AAAAGH!!!!
Unplug fridge. remove center piece, 2 screws. Remove 2 screws from icemaker, slide it foreward. Pull styrofoam out of centerpiece. Remove 2 screws from back and take it out. Remove 2 screws from fan assembly and unplug power and ground wire. Pull fan, motor and old grommets out and pitch it. Put new stuff in replugging and rescrewin g in reverse order. Enjoy the quiet!

Fan motor not working in freezer
I removed broken motor. Took off fan blade from old motor and put it on the new motor and installed the new motor.

the evaporator fan was noisey
I watched a fan repair video on line, I felt this was a repair that could easily be done by me. So I ordered the part and it came in about 4 days. The longest part was emptying the freezer and removing the shelf and the freezer wall which had 4 screws. The removal of the fan, 2 socket screws and the re-assembly took about 15 minutes, tota l time about 30 minutes. I did have a concern the assembly was not right but after looking at the wiring which was behind the freezer wall, I found it was a match. The repair was just as the video showed. The noise from the fan almost made me buy a new fridge, but now we are back in business, it works great. Thanks for the right part and there is quiet in the kitchen once more.
