The upper dishrack, tine row and cupshelf had become rusty.
The parts were very expensive but a lot cheaper than buying a new dishwasher. The repair was very difficult and took 3 1/2 hrs. The parts came with no instructions. The schematic on the KitchenAid web site showed the parts but not how they all went together. I had to carefully note where the small parts, which had to be reused came from on the old dishrack which was being replaced. I would recommend taking photos before taking apart the old rack. The dishrack was part was slightly different than the one ordered (I ordered one identical to the one I had and that is what was pictured on the web site) It did not curve up in front so the handle that says KitchenAid on it does not fit perfectly. They should indicate when a part is redesigned and the part # doesn't change. I couple of the old pieces that I had to reuse broke slightly, probably because they became stiffer with use, but were still usable. If you can afford a new dishwasher instead of replacing the parts, I would recommend that.
