Spring hinge on left side of washer (below bleach filler) failed. Lid opened with a loud cracking sound.
Correct part for this is the left handed spring hinge. list of parts have it labeled as "Right" but their rep identified error and got me the correct "left handed spring hinge". To remove top take out the two 1/4 screws on back of unit which hold the steel straps in place locking the top to the base. Slide the top forward about 1" to clear the two latches on the front of the machine and then re-install the two back straps so top and lid can be pivoted back. Remove bleach filler (two pieces) and set aside. Tape lid to top and pivot up and support in place. Remove spring hinge (two screws) and lid hinge (two screws). Install new left hand spring hinge and then lid hinge pin. Install bleach filler. Drop top down, remove back latches, then slide top back into front latches and re-install back latches.
