Product Description

This hi-limit thermostat acts as a safety mechanism that keeps the dryer from overheating. With this thermostat, a dryer's heating element will cut out if the internal temperature reaches 260 degrees Fahrenheit. The element will kick back in when the temperature drops to 192 degrees Fahrenheit - the differential of 68 degrees.

Dryer was not heating well, clothes would take a long time to dry
Step 1 was most important: removed the screws on the back, to access the controller board and check for loose connections. The technical manual was inside that portion of the dryer, and the diagnostic sequence it described told me the part I needed. Press and release 'start' a few times, the panel flashed the code that there was a fault or short for this thermostat.

Step 2: remove the back cover.

3: disconnect the wires to the thermostat and the heater element.

4: pull out the enclosure that holds the heater element and thermostat.

5: remove old thermostat, pulling its clips off the heater lead first then sliding it out.

6: replace everything reversing above..
