This is an authentic OEM sourced component which is specially designed for use with Briggs and Stratton engines commonly installed on lawn and garden equipment. The purpose of these ring is to provide a tight seal between walls of the cylinder and the piston. A worn or broken piston ring will allow combustion gasses to escape the seal and enter the crankcase, causing low compression and a loss of power.
