Product Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement rear drum seal for your dryer. This seal is made of felt and comes with the adhesive required for installation. The purpose of the seal is to prevent hot air from escaping the drum while the dryer is operating. If you notice that it is taking too long for your laundry to dry, that marks are left on your laundry, or the machine is noisy or will not tumble, then you may need to replace the seal.

Drum felt seal came off and was pinched between the drum & back panel
Unplugged the unit, Removed the top, front panel and drum. Cleaned the old glue from the drum and fitted the new felt seal. I then glued the new seal in place in sections of approximately 15 to 20 % of the drum diameter. I clamped the felt seal in place for 5-10 minutes and continued the process around the diameter of the drum. I let the glue dry & reinstalled the drum, its belt and idler pulley. I reinstalled the front panel and used a common table knife to make sure the drum seal was properly seated; turning the drum counter clockwise. Once seated, I reinstalled the top & filter; turned the dryer on and relished in the silence. I spent more time than needed but that was my choice. Piece of cake!

Noisy operation
I removed the screws at the lint filter then released the fasteners at the front to allow me to open the top cover. I then unplugged the door switch and removed the 2 screws at top of front cover and removed the front. I then lifted the drum out of the dryer and removed the rear drum felt seal per instructions included with part. then glu ed the new seal to the rear of the drum. allowed the glue to dry (about 30 minutes) while waiting for the glue to dry I replaced the front felt bearing and seal. re-assembled the dryer and tested. Wow what a difference. I also watched both videos available on the site for the repairs I was making. Suggest when replacing the rear seal that you glue about 2 feet around and wait for the glue to set up (about 10 minutes) then install the remainder of the seal and glue in place.

drum making load noise when turned on
I removed drum from cabinet and noticed one of the drum support rollers was froze to spindle and wore down in one spot. Both front and rear drum seals were also worn. I ordered the parts and they arrived in 2days. The front drum seal was easy to install but not so much for the rear seal. I installed the rear seal before gluing bye clampin g the seal every foot with 6inch clamps, 5 total and then start gluing and moving the clamps, to one side. as needed. I have done several of these now and this is the best way I've found. Support rollers are easy just need a pair of pliers and a small flat head screw driver. Installing the belt over the drum bye yourself is not easy but can be done. There are several videos online that are a big help.
