Product Description

If your dryer is not turning on, or not heating up, there could be an issue with your thermal fuse. This OEM fuse is designed to act as a high-limit thermostat, and will turn off the heating element in your dryer if the appliance overheats. It does this by cutting off power to the dryer. If the fuse has blown, it will need to be replaced as they cannot be reset. You can test the fuse with a multimeter, and should receive a reading of 0 ohms of resistance if the fuse is still good. A common reason for a dryer to overheat is if the air vents are blocked, as the hot air is contained in the dryer causing the fuse to blow. Be sure to keep your dryer filter and vents clean of lint and other debris to prevent this from happening.

1. My dryer has power but will not start. 2. I can hear a click when I press the (play/pause) START button. 3. I did clean the duct work in the wall all the way to the roof HEAVY LINT. 4. Lastly, disassembly video would be a help. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hello James, thank you for your question. There could be a few reasons why your dryer will not start. The dryer won't start if the door switch senses that the door is open. To test your door switch, set your multimeter to the lowest position for ohms of resistance. Touch the black meter probe to one metal prong on the switch and the red probe to the other. Press in on the switch pole. If the meter doesn't change, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. Part number FIX3529308. It could also be the push to start button, part number FIX11708666 or the timer part number FIX11710909. We hope this helps. Unfortunately, we do not have a video. Good luck with your repair!

Removed screw holding vent tube, pulled vent tube out. The thermal fuse and thermostat assy are left of inside the hole on the back of the dryer where the vent tube came out. The screws are easy to take out with one hand using a phillips screwdriver. I had to use a long screwdriver because the drum was in the way with a shorter one. The s crews were pretty tight, so use a phillips with a good point, dont want to strip the screws. Because i can only get one hand in there, it was a little tricky getting the new parts lined up and starting the first screws at the same time, that took a little while but I finally got them started. If i couldnt get the first screws started i was goint to cut the bottom holes on the brackets for the parts, start the screw, slip the bracket onto the screw and then start the second screws. I used a magnetic flashlight inside the dryer, could put it in different places to see better in there. I should have put a few layers of masking tape arround the vent hole edge, its pretty sharp and when i was done i realised i had cut my arm on that edge. Dryer works again and dear Wife is happy.. I did test the old parts, thermal fuse was blown, probably because of too much lint in the flexable dryer hose, i shoulda replaced the dryer hose sooner.

No heat when dryer runs
At first, I could not find a video on an older model dryer with controls on the back. Once I watched a video (on youtube) that showed a dryer with controls on the back (not an LG), I figured out how to get where I needed. The diagrams on the website showed me where I needed to find my part (thermostat) and from there it was easy. I sta rted with the troubleshooting comments (least expensive first, obviously) and if that didn't work, I would work my way up to replacing the entire heating element. Once I put the part in and put it all back together, it is running more quietly and drying just like it used to. One small investment ($4.61 plus shipping) , an afternoon repairing myself, and I saved a TON of money (in repairman coming or purchasing a new dryer)!! Thanks for supplying troubleshooting help AND video support . Will definitely use this site from now on !

Check it out on You Tube and then proceed. Although the parts were very small and inexpensive there was much sheet metal to remove to get at them. This actually afforded and good opportunity to thoroughly clean the rollers and vacuum all the accumulated lint.
