Duct outlet was apparently deformed when the dryer was installed. It had leaked lint for years.
One screw holds the duct. Some adjustment with pliers were needed to correct an out of round condition of the end that went on the squirrel cage outlet. Balance of time used to create a secure hose connection.

installing vent for used dryer
once I identified, ordered and received the vent tube from this site the key realization was that I should use the knockout access ports on the side of the dryer to enable installation of the tube inside the dryer's base. After that 'light bulb' clicked on, it was easy-peasy....
