If the door to your dishwasher drops suddenly when opening, there may be an issue with your connector assembly. It works by connecting the door hinge to the door spring, which applies tension and prevents the door from dropping quickly. To replace this part, you will need to pull the dishwasher out from under the cabinet in order to access the spring. This part is sold individually, but you may want to consider replacing both the right and left-hand side connector assemblies, as they can wear at similar rates. This genuine OEM part has a black plastic portion on each end of a white rope that measures approximately 12-inches in length.

Door had very little tension...pretty much dropped to floor if you didn't hold it
Checked to make sure drain hose had room on length to pull unit forward (it did) Unscrewed 2 small screws at top holding it to counter top. Removed lower kickplate panel and insulation. Slid unit forward only about a foot or less...just till you can see springs. (there are no side panels on your dishwasher) Saw one cab

Took picture of assembly first...then just removed spring and cable from pulley and door latch and reattached new parts in about 30 seconds. (Nothing to it!) Did both sides. You'd be crazy to mess with the job for only one side, etc. Note: Always do both spring and cable sets at same time. Springs may "look" fine...but after several years you can feel the difference in tightness when you pull to connect the cable to it. Took apart the old set by hand, but needed pliers to pull the spring enough to attach the new cable. Tested it before putting it all back up under the counter. I swear it is BETTER than new. All for about $40!
Door spring not working, door dropped down too fast and was way too heavy to lift easily.
Found a diagram of the door hardware and determined it had to either be a broken door spring or a door spring connector. It was the door spring connector.its the piece that goes from the door spring around the pulley to the connector mounting on the bottom of the door.to get at it you have to1. Take the two Phillip's head screws out of th

Pull the washer out of its enclosed area of the kitchen cabinet about 8 inches. That will expose the door springs, the door spring connectors on both sides of the door and the pullies that the connector are supposed to wrap around. The connectors are nylon line with plastic fittings on each end. These are what usually break (as in my case). I replaced both because one was broken and one was worn. Both the springs were fine.i replaced the connectors, pushed the washer back in to its original position, replaced the two side mounting screws. Job done, no problems, door now works fine. Total labor time, about 30 minutes. Only tools required are 1 screw driver and a pair of pliers to pull the spring down when attaching the new connectors.
Pulled the Dishwasher ot of the hole it was in ans unscrewd the Four Hex Head screws that heald the sides to the dishwasher. Pulled open the sides and replaced the connectors. One side was broke but replaced both sides to be on the safe side.
Removed the left and right side panels of the dishwasher (removed screws in each panel) then removed the old connector assemblies from the right and left side. The connector assembly end on right and left respectively hooked into the front door hinge on one end. The other end of the connector assembly was connected to the spring on the

Dishwasher Door Quickly Drops Open! Previously, door had slowly opened and lowered without a bang
Overview; Needed to pull dishwasher fully out from under counter to get access to both sides, back and front of unit.
Steps: 1) Needed to disconnect power supply > at main breaker panel, I turned off the main breaker for the dishwasher > i then removed the kickplate from the base of the unit, then removed the connector pan
... Read moreel (right hand side) and then loosened the cable connector (two screws holding the cable clamp). I then removed the three wire nuts (hot, neutral and ground) and finally, pulled the mains cable from the connector housing. 2) Needed to disconnect the water supply line > turned off the water supply connection under the kitchen sink. Using a 1/2 " wrench, i needed to loosen the water line and drained the water into a couple of paper towels. 3) Open the door of the unit and remove the two screws fixing the retainers to the underside of the kitchen counter. 4) Pull the unit from under the kitchen counter > Make sure you have room to open and close the dishwasher door! 5) Remove both side panels from the unit > there are three screws on the rear lip (where side panel is secured to the main unit) and two screws on the front side, right where the door closes against the unit. 6) Look down towards where the door hinge joins to the main unit (left side hinge is on the bottom right corner, right side hinge is on the bottom left corner. 7) The connector assembly is pretty much a piece of rope that holds the door to the main unit > look for a broken piece of rope! 8) With the door CLOSED, replace the old connector on one side of the unit (doesn't matter which, left or right side) > the dishwasher side is connected to a big spring, the rope then passes around/under a pulley/bearing to the connector on the door the door side is connected to a hook on the door. 9) Repeat step 8 on the opposite side of the unit. 10) BEFORE you replace the sides of the unit, try opening and closing the door a few times to make sure you have the pieces in the correct location! 11) Reattach the sides of the dishwasher. 12) Get the long piece of string and tie it around the power cable for the unit... My dishwasher has a power cable that will get stuck and caught under the dishwasher when i push it back under the counter! 13) Pull the string out from the front of the unit and push the dishwasher back in place. 14) Reconnect the water line 15) Reconnect the power line 16) Screw in the retainers under the counter 17) Reattach the kick plate
