Washer not cleaning dishes, soap left in bottom of dishwasher
Our dishwasher was not effectively washing the dishes and it was progressively getting worse until it didn't seem to do anything. Also, dishwasher soap wash left un-dissolved in the bottom of the dishwasher. Prior trouble shooting recommendations called for replacing the upper wash arm. I also found wear on the lower wash arm and bushings and the over-fill float was sticky. So I replace all of those things one item at a time. No improvement each time! Then, I found that the dishwasher can actually cycle without any water in it at all! That float only tells the water to shut off if it is overfilling. It turned out that my inlet water valve was plugged with rust from our well water! I replaced the valve and we had enough water to finally wash the dishes just as it did when new. We also discovered a new leak at the top of the front door seal, so we replaced that too. Before, with the low water level caused by the plugged valve, that leak didn't show up. Now, with enough water and the wash arms restored to like-new condition, the washer works great again.
