The drill smells like metal (not burnt) when in use. Does this drill have brushes? or do I replace the motor? thanks

Hi Jolie, Thank you for your question. If you get a metal smell coming from the drill when it is in use, it may be overheating. Turn it off and let it cool. You will need to dismantle the drill to see which part is causing the issue. There are no brushes listed for your drill. We hope this helps!

Motor in cordless drill needed replacing
I wanted to replace the motor in my DeWalt 20v cordless drill. I saw there was a Fix.com video about replacing the motor, so I ordered one from their website. That's where the problem began.

The motor that Fix.com sent me did NOT have the black and red electrical wires running from the motor. I had to get a soldering gun to ta ke the wires off the old motor and put them onto the one Fix sent me. I didn't do it exactly right and so the fix still isn't complete and I have to figure out why.

In the Fix.com video I watched, the replacement of the motor appeared very easy because it was just a matter of swapping out the motors, no soldering gun needed. However, that was not the motor that was sold to me. So be aware of that if you're looking to swap out motors.
