The pressure switch on my 14 year old Craftsman Air Compressor would no longer hold its cut in and cut out settings. After some research I discovered this is a common problem with 5 to 6 year old pressure switches on portable air compressors.
Attempts to remove the old switch from the compressor were futile since the fittings on the four pressure ports on the back of the switch were seized and could not be removed. I was successful at rounding off one of the fittings. It was not going to be removed. My next step turned out to be a disaster. I decided to remove the pressure

controls on the front of the new switch from the new four port pressure manifold on the back of the switch. Parts went flying everywhere. I was not able to put the new switch back together. The cost of the new switch amounted to half the price of a new portable compressor!?! So I have decided to consider portable air compressors to be expendable items; and, chalk up the wasted money on a new switch as the price paid for a lesson to never attempt repairs to portable air compressors... just buy a new compressor.
