This kit comes with the necessary components to replace your burner terminal block. It includes interchangeable mounting brackets, a terminal box, ceramic wire nuts, heat shrink protective tubing, and wires. The purpose of this part is to connect the wire harness to the surface element, which allows for the burners to heat up. Some common issues that result from a damaged terminal block is that your element will not heat properly or not heat up at all, may cause burning smell, or make a buzzing noise. If you remove the element and the tips are black, that is a good sign there is a problem with the terminal block and it should be replaced. It may also be necessary to replace the burner elements as well, if the tips are badly damaged. This repair will require a pair of wire strippers, a #1 square head screwdriver, and a heat gun or hair dryer. If you are not comfortable with cutting, stripping, and reconnecting of wires you should contact a qualified professional to complete this repair. The terminal block is the socket for the coiled burner elements of your cooktop or range in order for the burners to heat up. If your element is not heating up or turning on, there may be an issue with the terminal block. If you remove the coiled element and there are signs of corrosion or arcing on the prongs, the terminal block will need to be replaced. To replace the terminal block, you will need access to the sides and back of the range, so you will need to pull the appliance fully out from the wall. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your range before beginning this repair, as you will be cutting, removing, and connecting wiring.
