The capacitor, also known as a run capacitor, is a component in your fridge that allows the compressor to cycle on and off to maintain a constant temperature. If your fridge and freezer are too warm it may be necessary to replace the capacitor. Other symptoms include an unusually noisy and overheated compressor. You can check the capacitor for continuity using a multimeter. This is a genuine OEM replacement part made of black plastic that measures 1 inch by 1.5 inches. When replacing this part, be sure to check the electrical contacts on the old capacitor. If they are corroded or burnt, you will need to replace the overload relay assembly as well. Be sure to disconnect the power supply to your refrigerator before beginning this repair.

Both comparments very warm but fan working and lights on
Bought Capacitor, but I had to purchase Combo Start Up Kit that Cap goes into. The site said that 78% of the time my problem of both compartments being warm were resolved/repair by replacing Capacitor, but when the item was replaced it did not and my son looked further and found that it would then be the Combination Start Up Kit (Part# PS11740412), which starts the compressor. Thanks to this site the video used to install both parts. I was able to use the old Capacitor and I am returning the new one first purchased. Read more...

Water was not entering the icemaker tray
I initially replaced the water inlet valve, but that did not correct the problem. Replacing the icemaker control did. I removed the icemaker assembly by unscrewing the 3 nuts with a socket wrench and unplugging the icemaker assembly. I snapped off the white end piece, unscrewed the 3 screws, & removed the old icemaker control. I installed the new unit with a Phillips screwdriver, replaced the icemaker, plugged it in, and tightened the 3 bracing screws. The unit began making ice in one hour. Read more...

The water inlet valve is a solenoid-operated switch located at the bottom of the refrigerator. When it is energized by electrical power, water is released from the supply line through the water valve and into the compact icemaker mold. ***Please NOTE: This part has been redesigned and may appear different than the original. It has a new quick connection. To install: cut the retaining nut off the existing water line and gently push into new valve. To remove: depress the ring that the tube slides into.

Replace a leaking, ice maker water valve.
Repair was a bit difficult mostly in try to figure how to orient the new ice maker water valve. The real plus in using this kit was the number of extra mounting parts provided in addition to providing addition parts in connecting the water inflow and outflow lines. Read more...
