7MWTW1812AW1 Whirlpool Washer - Instructions

Started by replacing the lid latch assembly but this did not fix the problem. Parts Select representative suggested replacing the drive pulley clutch assembly. I order this and a new shift actuator. Had difficulty installing the new black shift actuator as it has a different electrical connection location from the original red part. The plug on the existing wiring harness would not reach the socket on the new black shift actuator. I had to remove the socket from the new black actuator casing so the plug would reach the socket. Washer is now working.

Followed instructions on website video.

Replaced the holder. However it is still leaking a little. Any other suggestions?

removed the agitator and melted the retaining clips to loosen the retainer cover for the cogs. went simple after that.

Removed the bolt that holds the agitator in place..pryed the metal ring that holds the agitator dogs in place..replaced the old dogs with the new ones..old ones were broke off so I had to figure out what direction to install them by assembling everything and making sure that the dogs would catch the teeth on the part that surrounds them..reassembled and then the machine wound agitate properly..but then discovered that the direct drive clutch was not working keeping the drum from spinning..so I replaced the clutch but that's another review..

THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE ON THE SAME SITE AS YOUR PART WHITCH MADE IT SIMPLE

The repair went smoothy except for removing the screw that holds the upper agitator part from the bottom agitator. Once that was removed all went smoothly. Considering my washer is 17years old, I guess I should be happy that was my only problem. I followed the directions of the repairman in the video that was provided by the web site. Most of my parts matched his parts :). My husband was very proud that I repaired the washer and was able to diagnose the problem. Thanks for helping me save some $$$$. Removed agitator according to instructions, although upper and lower agitator did not want to separate. I used a steel rod and hammer to separate them by hitting lower agitator where bolt goes through. After removing and replacing old cogs, cog holder had to be tipped upside down to insert in agitator. I used a small dap of toothpaste to hold retainer in place while I inserted it in agitator. Works great now.

I went on line to find out how take the adjetator apart. You just stand on the adjetator and pull the top off. Very simple. Once that wss apart I cleaned the dog area of dirt and old pieces. Install new dogs and put it back together. I was trying to make much harder than it was. Piece of cake.

Using the IPB I removed the upper assembly to gain access to the cogs. Turned the assembly over and incerted the new parts and reassembled the pieces in reverse order.

FIRST I printed the directions from an online DIY stie, then removed a single bolt from the center of the agitator. I dismantled the agitator, replaced the dogs, and used to printed page to help me reassemble the agitator. I then replaced the bolt. It's VERY easy, but you need the pictures to be sure you've put everything back in the correct place.

first remove the cap on agitator(softner),then pull out inside cap (small cover inside),loose bolt in center (you need a 7/16 socket with a long extension) after that pull up the whole assamble out of the washer tub,hold bottom part and pull up agitator ,turn up side down to take out the cogs and holder, replace with new ones and go back on the instructions.

I also ordered a new agitator repair kit which had almost everything. I noticed that I the kit had shorted 3 of the 4 cogs. Once the missing parts were received I removed the agitator bolt from the middle of the agitiator with a rachet and socket. Amazingly, I read the instructions and followed them accordingly. I pulled removed the agitator and removed the dogs/cogs and placed the new one in the new dogs *Making "dog gone" (pun intended) sure they were facing the correct way, by comparing them to the instructions. I carefully seated them as per the illustrations on the instructions and replaced the center bolt in. placed the cap on top and started the washer. Then I had my cup of coffee. By the way..I'm a grandmother, so if I can do it.............!

1. Lift the softener dispenser up and out
2. Lift up the plastic cap underneath
3. See bolt...use ratchet with extension to loosen and remove bolt
4. Remove whole agitator by simply lifting it up
5. Place agitator on floor and separate top from bottom agitator by simply pulling apart
6. See 4 plastic cogs that spin the agitator. Like mine they are probably completely worn/stripped.
7. Replace old 4-cog set with a new 4-cog set. They are small and inexpensive parts! I did this and our machine is working just great!

This also gave me a chance to clean the agitator thoroughly!
