CAM2762TQ2 Whirlpool Washer - Instructions

Shut off water and unplugged electricity. Removed hoses, have some thing to catch water in the hoses.
Remove the screws that hold the back cover on the controls panel, and the cover for the electrical cord, you do not have to do anything else with the cord. Remove the 2 screws that are holding the top of the washer to the back panel and slide the top forward an inch or two until it comes loose in the front. Hold onto lt glass top door a lift it up until you can see the silver metal spring clips that hold the controls panel/ cover in place, with a screw driver press the clips back and lift them up a little bit and this will allow you to move the controls panel forward a half inch and the tabs will release and you can tip the cover forward and this exposes the water valve, there are 5 electrical connections on this valve were I to do this again I might order the wiring loom for the valve at the same time that way you would not have to use the small sharp pick to work the connectors loose and reinstall them on the new valve. Replacing the valve was easy as there are only two screws holding it on. Pull up on the valve and it is off.
Make sure all three of the gaskets /prong seals are lined up before you press down on the valve to install it, install the two screws before you plug in the electrical, it makes it easier to tighten the screws. Plug the connectors back onto the valve, 4 on the top of valve on under it and reassemble the washer.

I followed the instructions in the video on the part page (part #PS11741239), which was also conveniently linked in the item shipped email. The replacement of the part was very easy ... the hard part was balancing the washer again (kitchen floor seems to have sunk in the middle). Back to normal function without having to suffer a flood first. Thanks.

Make sure you UNPLUG your washer first. It is also a good idea to remove the water intake hoses from the back to avoid damage to them or the valves.

Getting the outer panels off was the hardest part for me. There are 2 screws on the back of the function panel. You don't have to remove the screws completely, just until they are unscrewed from the bottom base. Then I gently pulled forward and up on the function panel and it flips back exposing the wiring. There is one wire harness plug that needs to be disconnected toward the center of the panel.
There are 2 large metal clips that are removed by pressing a flat head screwdriver into them. Press down and slightly toward the front of the washer and it will release the clip. Be careful, mine popped up and flew behind the washer.
Once the clips are removed you can pull the entire caging of the washer (top, front, right and left side panels as one) away from the machine. This will expose the entire innards of the washer.
In the front at the bottom is the water pump. It is very easily removed. Pinch the clamps around the hoses with a pair of pliers and move them up the hoses. Pull both hoses off the pump.
There are 2 metal clamps holding the pump in place. You can release them using a flat head screwdriver as well. Once free from clamps, the pump can be pulled straight forward to be removed.
Replace the pump with the new one, placing it in the same place and position as the old one. Attach the clamps back on. Mine were really hard to reattach as the tension was really tight.
Then slide the hoses back on and use the pliers to squeeze and slide the clamps back down the hoses to secure them to the pump.
Replace the cage of the machine. On my particular model, the front panel hooks under a metal lip and the side panels rest on them, so it was a challenge getting it back into place by myself in the small area I was working in.
Replace the metal clips on the top using the flat head screwdriver by pulling slightly toward the front of the washer and pressing down.
It was a little scary, I thought I was going to pinch myself.
Then reattach the one wire harness, flip the console back down and secure tightly.
Screw the 2 screws back in on the back of the function panel and your done. Reattach the hoses and plug in your washer.

This was my first washer repair. I did it with some sketchy online instructions for a different model washer. It took forever to get the washer open and was even more frustrating to put it back together. Changing out the pump was simple once I got in there. I saved over $100 in labor by doing this myself and in only took about 45 minutes.
I think I'm ready to open up the dryer and give it a good cleaning.

We had to take the motor off and find the part that holds the spring, took longer to fix as we are older people and took a brake after every spring. We used YouTube videos to help us I am thankful for this site and cheap prices.

I tipped up the machine and had my wife hold it.
I removed the two hoses with water pump pliers. Then , I removed the two clips with my fingers. The old pump came off in my hands. I installed the two hoses on the new pump with my hands, lined up the pump drive with the hole pushed it in and re-attached the two clips with my hands.
The whole job took maybe five minutes. The hardest part of the job was conviencing my wife that there was no danger involved with the process.

I disconnected the water lines and pulled the washing machine over so it was lying on its front. I removed two screws on the bottom edge of the back, and then puzzled over how to get the back off. I ended up removing the screws that held the control panel on, removing the wiring harness, and taking the control panel/head off. This exposed two metal clips that I was able to unhook. I unhooked the water valve from the back, disconnected the electrical connections, removed the water line, and replaced the valve. Then I puzzled about how to put it back together for a bit, and basically just reversed the order I took it apart.

Video was very helpful. Repair was easy. Remove and replace with just hand tools. The hardest part was moving the washer around to tilt it back. Service was great. I picked regular ground shipping and parts showed up the next day.

Isolated problem to front section of washer by elevating and adding water. Once I identified the pump as leaking (it was pretty obvious:>)I used a screwdriver to release the snaps that hold the pump to the drive motor. After sliding the pump off of the drive motor I used the pliers I release the clamps on the two hoses. Next I logged on to Partselest.com and ordered a replacement. The item arrived in two days. I placed the pump on the motor first then connected the hoses. It was much easier to slide the hose clamps to the proper position with the pump held secure on the motor.

I read the trouble shooting guide on your web sight to figure out what the problem was and after checking the hoses the pump seemed the next most likely problem. So I ordered the part.My main problem was the lack of room to work,if I could have tipped it on it's back or raised it I would not of had a problem.But I tipped it up and blocked it from falling and removed the part while waiting for the new one to arrive.Once it arrived it only took a few minutes to install.When I tried the washer it still leaked water,so I tipped it back up to check it out.The only thing that was wrong was that the spring hose clamps had not seated yet so I moved them around and wiggled the hoses to try and get them tighter.The next time ,it worked fine.The other reviews and trouble shooting guide were a great help!

The new pump arrived at my door just a few days after it was shipped.

Once I got the water hoses off and the clips holding the pump I had to use a large screwdriver to get the pump off the motor shaft. I then tried putting the new pump on but it wouldn't fit. I noticed that the motor shaft was flaired out (possibly due to rust) so I used a Dremel Tool with a grinding disk to carefully grind down the shaft to what it looked like it was supposed to be. Once that was done the pump easily slipped into place. I attached the pump clamps and hoses and pushed the washer back into place. I ran a quick test and then later a load of laundry. No more leaks!

I disconnected the washer from the water supply lines.turned the washer on it's back. took two hoses off the water pump.Unsnapped two spring clip's.Took the old pump off and installed the new pump.That is all there was to it.

Unplugged the washer. Pulled it away from the wall far enough so it would be stable tilted back against the wall. That way I didn't have to disconnect any hoses or lay the machine down.

I used a ViceGrips to squeeze the hose clamps and then pulled the hoses off. Getting the pliers in the right position in the tight space was the hardest part of this whole job, and that still wasn't particularly hard. I have medium sized hands (for a man).

I flipped open the retainer clips with my fingers. Pulled the pump off and slid the new one on. It helped to make sure first that the flat side of the motor shaft was roughly facing the same way as the slot in the pump.

I reattached the hoses and popped the retaining clips back on. Held my breath and ran the washer. No more leak!

Incidentally, before I discovered PartSelect I called Whirlpool service. I asked if they could have the tech show up with the part. They said "No." I'd have to pay the fee for a diagnostic visit and then the tech could order parts and return to install them. They said there would be no service charge for the return visit.

Several years ago I believed this story when I called for a dryer repair. However, when a second technician returned with the part I had told the dispatcher the first time around was needed, he came up with some excuse why there had to be a supplemental service charge. I challenged it on my credit card and eventually got it removed, but it was a hassle.

It was the first time I ever ordered parts online or even attempted to repair a washer. You all have made finding and ordering the right part very easy. I got the part in 2 days even though I used the cheapest shipping option (5 to 7 days). I turned off the water, removed the water lines so I could lay the washer on its side. No tools were needed to remove the water pump, just two clips held it on. I put the new pump on, hooked up the water and washed a load that night.
