Top agitator would not agitate
The repair was very simple. I removed the agitator cap with a small screw driver, removed the retainer screw with a socket set tool. I removed the top agitator, lifted the cam and removed the old worn directional cogs installed the new ones. I reassembled the agitator. All of 10 minutes.... Very easy

the top section of the agitator would not turn
First I came to this web site and discovered some directions from other customers. I then followed those directions to disassemble the agitator. I removed the softener cup by pulling up on the blue plastic retention ring. I then used a flat head screwdriver to remove the plastic cap by placing the screwdriver into the slot on the side and prying it off. Next I used a 3/8 socket and extension to remove the bolt which holds the agitator to the shaft. After the bolt was removed I pulled up on the agitator and removed it from the washing machine. To remove the upper section of the agitator, I placed it on the ground and holding the base with my feet, I pulled on the upper section. I then removed the dog ears, verifyed the problem and ordered the parts (dog ears). The parts arrived in less time than promised, were installed in about 5 minutes and I was back to doing laundry. When you reassemble the agitator, turn it upside down to install the dog ears so they do not fall out.

Replaced cogs in agitator
Fabric softener dispenser simply lifts off the top of the agitator. Then, a flat head screwdriver, tucked anywhere under the edge of the cap, lifts/pries it off. Then drop a 1/2" drive extension(no socket as it simply is the extension itself) into the plastic "nut" and remove it while holding onto bottom of agitator with your other hand. Lift it out, replace the cogs and reverse for reassembly. Total time less than 5 minutes, including shipping was $10.50 for cogs - repair #4 completed thanks to the fine folks at PartSelect! PS - part arrived at my door less than 24 hrs after ordering it even tho I requested 2-3 day shipping.

top agitatior was slipping
from start to finish was about 10 minutes. used screwdriver to pop off top cap of agitator. used ratchet with small extension to take out bolt for agitator. removed agitator, placed it on ground for leverage and pulled off top agitator. carefully observed old directional cogs. flipped top agitator upside down removed old worn out/ broken plastic cogs. replaced them with the new ones. hard to screw up they only install one way. kept top agitator upside down and put rest of agitator back on. flipped it right side up and pressed down hard for secure fit. placed agitator back in washer. reinstalled bolt. placed cap back on and was finished...25 year old washer working like new. $2.80 not including shipping...

Agitator wasn't turning
After reading on line how others did it, it was simple. I lifted out the softener dispenser. Under that there was a plastic cap. You just lift it out - theres no fasteners holding it. It just fits snugly in place by means of an o-ring. Under that there is one bolt holding the agitator to the spindle. Loosen that and remove the whole agitator. The agitator then comes apart in the middle. Just pull the two halves apart. The only tool you will need is one socket with a long extention and a ratchet. Once apart you will see the 4 plastic cogs that spin the agitator. The teeth were worn off of mine. I simply replaced the four cogs that come as a set. None of the other parts were worn to the point of needing replacement. I now have a fully functioning washing machine that was repaired for less than thirteen dollars!

Agitator wasn't turning
I watched your video, followed the instructions, and
in 20 minutes I had a new washer! The repair man estimated the cost for repair at $150, but I didn't want to spend that much money on a 20-year-old washer, so I ordered the agitator repair kit, cost $12, and it arrived the very next day! I did exactly what the video indicated and within 30 minutes my washer was agitating like never before. Thank you so much for the video instruction, it was fantastic.

Agitator wouldn't turn when washing clothes.
Removed fabric softener dispenser. Inserted medium flathead screwdriver into slot on side of cover that is on agitator and pried off. Used socket wrench, socket and extension to unscrew bolt inside agitator. Lifted out and slid off plastic ring holding agitator cogs (cogs will fall right out so make sure you check to see how they're in). Replaced cogs in the same direction they came out. Very simple!!

wouldn't agitate properly
I removed the fabric softner dispenser, removed the inner cover, removed the 1/2" bolt holding the upper agitator to the lower agitator and pulled the upper agitator up and out.Remover the cog holder from inside the upper agitator and replaced the old cogs with the new. They simply set loosely in the holder.I then reversed the process of putting the agitator back and bolting it in,inserted the small cover and dispenser. The entire job took about 5 minutes at most.
