I noticed when putting clothes in the washer and more than half full the top agitator slowed down.
We ordered the dog Agit clutch and within a few minutes I had a new washer. It started agitating a lot faster.

Top part of agitator did not work. It would only turn sometimes.
I followed a repair video on YouTube It is easier to disassemble the agitator and replace to cogs The hard part was placing the top part of the agitator back onto the bottom parts, after I replaced the cogs. i use a flashlight to help see where the two separate pieces of the agitator need to be to connect the back together properly ( top agitator & bottom agitator). Once this sep is completed you have to place the whole agitator and line it up on the agitator rod. Line up the groves as much as possible. Turn the agitator slowly until it slides into place. Then use your socket wrench to tighten the screw. The screw is the last step to attach the agitator back onto the washing machine. Then replace the cap, to keep water from going down into the washing machine. Then replace the fabric softener dispenser. Now you have a great washing machine. I am a women and did this repair by myself.

Agitator wouldn't agitate
Removed the bolt that holds the agitator in place..pryed the metal ring that holds the agitator dogs in place..replaced the old dogs with the new ones..old ones were broke off so I had to figure out what direction to install them by assembling everything and making sure that the dogs would catch the teeth on the part that surrounds them..reassembled and then the machine wound agitate properly..but then discovered that the direct drive clutch was not working keeping the drum from spinning..so I replaced the clutch but that's another review..

upper part of agitator did not turn because of worn out teeth on the agitator cogs.
The repair went smoothy except for removing the screw that holds the upper agitator part from the bottom agitator. Once that was removed all went smoothly. Considering my washer is 17years old, I guess I should be happy that was my only problem. I followed the directions of the repairman in the video that was provided by the web site. Most of my parts matched his parts :). My husband was very proud that I repaired the washer and was able to diagnose the problem. Thanks for helping me save some $$$$. I'm pleased and am very happy to have solved the problem on my own. My husband teases me about hanging a shingle. Thanks, Zina

The agitator would not move.
I removed the center cap from the agitator, which then exposed an inner cap with rubber seal. These were both easily removed with no tools... just a slight pull. Then the center screw was exposed. I removed that "one" screw and pulled the upper agitator assembly off. The old dog ears literally fell right out. I simply ensured that I placed the new dog ears in the same direction as the old, which is not hard to remember because the little housing piece that holds them is molded in the angle of the ears. Putting it back in took the most time because the new ears can easily fall out. In order to overcome this I had to assemble the pieces that had been removed and carefully put them back in place. At that point I had to manage to get the screw back into position and tighten it up. I put the inner cap with seal back in place and then the agitator cap... Done! It's an old machine but works great with a simple repair. The dog ears were so inexpensive that I purchased two sets. Great site!

The upper section of agitator would not agitate.
Snap off softener dispenser. Pop off top of agitator with flat head screw driver. Use long handled socket ro remove agitator fastener. Lift off entire agitator assembly. Flip upside down on floor. Secure top section of agitator between feet and carefully unsnap but lifting upper portion. Look at placement of existing agitator cogs in upper section between feet. Remove cog retainer. Note position of cogs. Replace one cog at a time making sure they are repositioned the same way. Attach cog retainer. Place bottom portion of agitator in alignment and snap. Flip over and reinstall on washer center assembly. Place bolt and washer back into assembly and retighten. reattach cover and softener dispenser (if you have one). Done! Less than 15 minutes.

agitator cogs wore out
Removed the agitator assembly with a socket wrench and extension, replaced cogs, reinstalled assembly...took about 10 minutes because I dropped the assembly once, and had to reassemble it. An absolute "piece of cake."

Washer Agitator not working properly
With the help of a You Tube video, which was watched first, then when the parts were delivered, the video was watched again, then we played the video back and paused it after each section was done so we could make sure we were doing the repair correct. The one thing I will mention that the video doesn't mention to do is, before taking the agitator out of the washer, put a mark somewhere on the agitator to tell you which end is the top. Just remember that the top( cap ) will be off, so that will not work. Otherwise it was a good, easy fix

Upper agitator would not rotate
Could be done in place, but it's easier to pull the full agitator assembly out first, and work at a table. Remove the fabric softener dispenser, then the plastic cap below (with rubber o-ring)- both pull out by hand. Reverse the now visible bolt with an extended 7/16" socket and pull the cog housing up and out, gripping with gentle pressure with pliers ( locking plastic tabs make this piece impossible to remove by hand). Once the housing is removed it's easy to separate the two halves with your fingernails and replace the cogs. I was able to reassemble everything and push it back down into the drum in about two minutes. Piece of cake- I highly recommend anyone with a tool box do this himself.

Agitation ceased
After a quick Google search I determined how to pull off the softener dispenser and top cover. Removed one bolt and pulled agitator out and apart.. Anyone who has used a socket set can do it.
