11020022013 Kenmore Washer - Instructions

Removed agitator cover with small screwdriver. Removed bolt holding agitator with socket on 6" extender. Pulled agitator up and out. Replaced thrust spacer adding tiny amount of silicone grease. Replaced agitator directional cogs adding small amount of silicone grease. Note direction of cogs first or they will make a loud ratcheting noise. Reassemble. The drawing on this site is helpful.

I popped the dispenser cap off, pulled off the plastic cover that sits on top of the agitator directional cogs assembly, and used a socket wrench with 2 extensions on it to unscrew the nut holding the assembly in place. I misplaced my socket screwdriver and rather than try to buy a nutdriver that matched the size, I just bought a little 3/8" socket extension kit (I needed about 8" of length to be able to use a normal socket wrench). My hands are pretty big so I just had to use pliers to pull the agitator cogs assembly out. Next I just turned the assembly upside down, slipped the plastic ring off that holds the cogs in place, and put the new cogs in place of the old ones. Reassembly was just as easy. The job took about 15 minutes, and once everything was back together the agitator worked like it was brand new.

After the wife held the phone to the washer so I could hear the horrendous noise it was making. And I screaming at her "shut it off, shut it off!' I came home and took the agitator apart, and found the directional dogs worn out. Went to the computer and easily ordered new parts, which came very quickly. I took off the agitator with a long extension and socket, put in the new dogs and reversed for installation. Told the wife get back to doing the laundry!

Followed video provided by Part Select. Video made it look easier than it was but was very thorough and I was able to accomplish repair in less than an hour! The agitator before repair would bounce up and down when I pressed hard and let go. After repair it was much tighter!! Evidently this is a common problem with this design of Whirlpool washers!

followed video instruction that came with part. Previously watched youtube video (there are several, the low production videos are well worth viewing over the professional types). It was a breeze, other than the videos saying one person could do all four. When you get to the last rod, it is more difficult to lift the tub to insert the final rod in the round holder. I asked my wife for assistance.

I used a jack to lift the tub and unhooked the rods and replaced them. Works great.

Just watched the video. Take from a 63 year old. Who never fixed a washer. Thx a lot for the video it saved me a lot of money being on a fix income. and it was less than $ 10 that was included shipping.

Half inch extension. Removed plastic set piece. Remove agitator cap. Remove ring remove worn cogs. Replaced new cogs Replace lock ring, back together. 10 minutes

Removed Softner dispenser and cap. With a 3/8" socket wrench and extension And 7/16" socket I took out the screw holding the agitator and removed top section of agitator. Turned upside down and removed the rubber grommet that holds the cogs in place. Replaced cogs and reinstalled grommet. Aligned top part of agitator with 2 tabs and put back in place and secured with 7/16" screw. Replaced cap And dispenser. Good to go. Works perfectly. Very easy repair.

Removed 5 screws on back, released 2 retention clips on front, lifted top of washer to expose lock assembly, removed 2 screws holding lock assembly in place followed electrical line back to plug behind control panel plugged new lock in, and reassembled in reverse order. Done!

I ordered a lid switch because the washer wouldn't agitate. Most reviews indicated that was the problem. While waiting for the part to arrive, I discovered the transmission to be of fault.I let parts select know that I no longer needed the part. Washer was not agitating. My husband did not have a clue what to look for, but he took it apart and noticed two of the four directional cogs were stripped. Did an internet search and found the part on your website and thought we would give it a try since the part/shipping was under $20. The parts came in three days and my washer lives on. Was ready to get a new one since it is 18 years old, but I will not wait. Excellent website with all instructions and parts breakdown of the washer.

Removed top cap of agitator and pulled out the inner cap. Spread a pair of needle nose pliers and placed them in square holes on each side of nylon fitting. Unscrewed nylon fitting and removed top half of agitator. Replaced directional cogs/dog ears and put agitater back together. Works like new. Easy fix.

PS Received parts in 72 hours. $10.00 bucks and never left the house.
