noisy out of balance during spin cycles
I followed the instructions that other posters suggested. The springs were the toughest part to remove and reinstall. Having my wife push the tub enabled me to use vice grips to get them back on. Read about the coins or washers to spread the springs too late... would have helped. Running a wash now and it's spinning great and no noise!

Washer was leaking water.
Removed front of washer following instructions on partselect.com (used putty knife to release catches). Removed hoses and belt from pump, then removed and replaced the pump. Reattaching the belt was the only awkward task.

Pump was making a grinding noise.
I tilted the machine on it's back to remove the drive belt. You could feel the friction in the pump when you turned the pulley. I set the machine back down and removed the back cover (4 screws). I removed the two hoses with a pair of pliers. I used a small socket set to remove the three mounting screws. I ordered the pump. I reversed the process to put it back together. It took about 35 minutes to determine what the problem was and to remove the pump. It took about 20 minutes to put it back together.

Wash machine top would not open or close properly
First replace the hinge but realized it was actually the hinge pin thar was broken. So we replaced the hinge pin and the hinge on both sides and it works like new. It was only necessary to replace the right hinge pin, but we replaced everything since I had already ordered the parts. Check hinge pin first.

Washer lid became detached
I lifted top portion of the washer after removing rear attachment screws to obtain access to lid hinge and mounting pins. I unscrewed the broken hinges and pins and installed the new ones.

I believe I could have avoided removing the rear attachement screws by sliding a screw driver or flat pry bar under the front panel and lifted the front panel up. The job would have taken much less time.

dead pump
I first opoen the front panel of the washer. That was a bit tricky. Had to slide a thin blade between the top of the washer and the front panel, pushed in to release the "clamp" and gently raise the top, it hinges on the back.
The rest was undoing three bolts, refit the new pump and put the belt back on.
The part cost me less then $65.00.
The repair estimate by the local repair man was $ 250.00.
I am very happy.

Thank you PartSelect.

Squealing Belt In All Cycles
Because I live alone, the washer is very heavy so I just used some sliding robots under the legs of washer so I could slide it out from the wall by myslef after removing the small plate in the back to accfess the water pump I used the nut driver to remove the 3 screws holding the pump in place, but I used the pliers to remove the 2 water hoses first then I mounted the water pump back into place, installed both hoses again then I tilted it back against the wall while re installing the belt then I pushed it back against the wall and removed the sliders so I could make sure it was back level this was a very easy repair even if you never fixed any thing before the belt replacement was even more simple to replace because the motor is springloaded so you just had to pull on it enough to remove it from the pulleys

Washer making loud noise when water pump operating, still worked but made very loud noise
I ordered the replacement pump assembly (water pump)for my Atlantis model maytag washer, removed the old one, installed the new one and works like a charm. The only difficulty I had was trying to figure out how to remove the cover on the front of the washer, to remove the clips, it slid side to side instead of popping out, found the instructions on-line, NO instructions came with the pump but if you have any common sense when it comes to repairs it was easy to remove and install the new part.

Lid to wash tub was completely broken off (bought it that way - got it cheap because of this).
Remove two screws holding a special clip on the back of the washing machine (near top- one on each side). Top of washing machine pops off now by prying front edge up (2 snap type clips hold front edge of top down). Once top is loose just pivot it up on edge so you can get to the bottom side of it (don't have to remove the wires etc. as they are long enough for this). Remove one screw in each hinge half located on bottom side of washing machine top and remove old hinge half from top. Remove broken hinge halves from door to washing machine by removing one screw from each one. Put new hinge halves together and fasten to door. Then set entire hinge/door assembly on washing machine top and screw to top as an assembly. Snap top of washing machine back down on front of machine and put clips/screws back in on back of machine.

Bearing on pump making noise and would go out soon.
I diagnosed the bearing by putting a 3/4 inch rubber hose up to my ear. I pointed it around until isolating the noise to the pump. The bearing was not servicable without replacing the pump. After diagnosing the problem I ordered the part. Getting the part from PartSelect.com was a snap. It arrived in one day. In 15 minutes I had it back to gether and working quiet and smooth.
