Washing machine overflowed when daughter used it
I work in hvac, I more or less understand the older electro mechanical non electronic machines so I gave diagnosis a stab. I already knew that the water level switch could cause problems. I noted that the hot and cold water fill valve solenoids DID shut off tightly. While testing, I tried blowing and sucking on switch hose port and listened for a clear click; no click. At this point you replace the switch just to be sure. I blew out on outlet side of vinyl tubing going into water in tub. Used model and serial number to locate part on website. I physically removed water level switch (you twist it off by gently prying under a tab and turning 90 degrees) or else remove switch with short mini philips. I very carefully compared the removed switch visually to the very good multiple multi position photos on website. That showed me that the switches looked the same. So when I orderred the part I was 98% sure it was right. The part arrived and was correct. I installed it in 5 minutes, tested it with different levels. Machine repaired! Recorded part number in computer notes.

Broke the knob.
I used a pair of pliers to turn my dryer on until I broke the center part where the knob went. I order the part that was in the dryer first and it came the next day. When it got here I realized I still needed the knob. It came the next day also. It took my handyman about 15 minutes to replace both and he also cleaned out all of the missing socks and other items behind my dryer. Good Job!

Dryer Start knob broken inside of stem.
Knob stem was split, leaving the metal bushing on the dryer's Start switch. Used pliers to remove metal collet. Aligned new knob to switch, and firmly pushed replacement part into place. Tested results and found it to be satisfactory.

Washer would not complete the cylcle, it stop in the middle
I was going to buy a new washer and dryer, then the opportunity came up to buy the house instead, so I opted for the repair. It was very simple. I had four small torx bolts to get to the control panel, a small screw that i took out with a nutdriver to take the timer out and a phillips head screw driver to loosen the ground. It was simple and quick, and very cheap, considering my options.
