Same as described on your video. Very simple

Based on all the other info here, I thought "ah-ha! I need to replace the clutch assembly". So I ordered the part, it came the next day (to Vermont, even!) and started to disassemble the agitator, motor, etc. just as shown in the video. I don't think I would have attempted it if it had not been for the video. It made the process seem very straightforward and easy, as long as you are comfortable using a socket set.

That said, there were some fairly minor differences between my machine and the one in the video, so your repair might differ a little. First of all, I did not need one of those spanners / tub wrenches (whatever they called it in the video-- the thing he hit with the sledge hammer) to take off that nut under the agitator. I didn't need to remove it, and the drive axle just pulled right out. Second, you really don't need to remove the motor mount. Just take the motor off, and then go right to removing the three bolts on the transmission.

Actually, my problem turned out to be NOT the clutch assembly, but the little plastic gear things that go between the motor and the transmission, fitting into that rubber ring thing. I lifted the motor off and one of them was sitting there in pieces! You can easily order this part, and it's even easier to install than the clutch assembly. The plastic pieces are reinforced with metal now, which seems like a good idea.

All in all, this was a fun little project, and now I am under the (probably false) impression that I can repair any problem with washing machines!

Removed power and front panel, removed broken latch, pushed in new latch and replaced the front panel and power. Done

discovered it was a broken latch. Ordered the latch, only took 2 days to arrive and all I had to do was remove the broken latch and snap in the new one. I saved myself a service call. I'm very happy!!!!!!

I took out the old worn out part and replaced with the one I order.

After watching the great install video, I followed his lead and within 20 min had my dryer door fixed. This dryer was bought in 1986 and I really thought I was looking at buying a new dryer. How wonderful that I could fix it for less than $11. Easy to find web site, easy to find part, great instructions and fast delivery!

First I was told by the maytag repair man that the motor was shot and it would be 467 dollars to repair. Since I didn't have that kind of money I decided to take it apart to see if I could replace the motor myself. Once I had it apart I saw the part that held the motor in place was broken off and the motor was out of place causing it too shut itself off. Once I figured it all out it took about 2 minutes to replace the less than 6 dollar part! Thanks partSelect!!!

The video was well made and made repair easy. I like the fact the video also showed how everything went back. The most difficult part and most time consuming for me was putting the washer cabinet or housing back on. I had a hard time lining the sides onto the slot to lock in place....the minor cut on finger sustained during the process was worth it. It saved me from buying a new washer and the whole family are happy that they don't have to wring out the clothes before putting it the dryer. Thank you!

unplug, Tilt back washer, remove motor clips with screwdriver,remove drive clips with screwdriver,remover old 3 piece coupler, tap new couplers on with hammer, then replace drive and motor.10 minunte repair.Watch a video here but there is no need to remove the cover or the hoses.

First, I removed washer housing by unscrewing top left and right screws of the housing and then flipping the timer up to expose the housing clips. Using a flat head screw driver, pry up the clips and pull up and forward and the whole housing comes off. Find the motor near the floor. Use a screw driver to unhook clips to the hose box. Pull the hose box out of the way. Use a nut driver to unscrew the screws that hold the motor clips in place. Pry the motor clips off and pull off the electrical clips to the motor and capacitor. The motor will then easily come out. Pry the broken coupling off of the motor and the tranmission. Attach the new couplings to where the old ones were. I had smack the couplings on with a hammer and a wrench extender that was slightly larger than the shafts that the couplings fit over. You must then place the rubber piece of the coupling onto to prongs on the transmission side and then line up the prongs fron the motor side. I had to rotate the motor slightly to get them to line up properly. Push the motor back into place. Re-attach the motor clips. Tighten down the clip screws. Re-attach the wires to the motor.Re-attach the hose cover and clips. Reverse the process of pulling off the housing (a bit tricky) and you are done.

Tilt washer forward. Unbolt thingie (my HUSBAND did this, I just wash the clothes) and other thingie, install coupling, and re-bolt the thingies.

Ordering was easy, shipping was fine (I ordered it Sat. night and it was here Wed. afternoon). Price seemed competitive. Overall a good experience (except for the week without the washing machine - handwashing clothes is HARD!!!)

I read the other posts that described how to do the repair. There was tell tale black rubber shavings around the drive and motor area.
All you have to do is remove the retaining clips that hold the water pump, remove the hoses(make sure to drain in bucket ect.), remove the wiring harness taking care to leave the capacitor lead intact if the washer has been run in the last 24 hrs to prevent a shock. Remove the two clips holding the motor in place. Remove the four bolts holding the motor base. The coupling is attached to the motor, use a screwdriver ect. to gently pry off the coupling. The old one will likely be round, the new part will be triangular. Same thing. Fit the platic pieces (2) one to the motor and the other to the drive with the rubber in the middle fitting into the allotted holes in the rubber. Reverse the procedure to finish. I saw there was a slightly lower price on a competitors web site by maybe 2.00 dollars. I went with this site because I received help like this I am giving you and want to reward these people for their ingenuity of having this type of forum for others. Please do the same. Doug

unhook washer lay it on it's back and remove the two 1/4" nuts securing the holding straps on the motor. Seperate the motor from transmission and slip in new coupling. Reverse previous steps to reassemble. Note: remove all rubber dust from the motor so that it doesn't smoke when the motor heats up.

First, I turned the machine on it's side to provide access to the bottom/motor coupling area, then I removed the two motor straps that are connected with bolts to uncouple the motor to the coupling and transmission/pump, I also removed the hoses to the pump, then I separated the motor, then I removed the rest of the pieces of the old coupling, and then installed the new coupling, and put it back together, connected the straps back on the sides of the motor.

I first tipped the machine on its side, so that the motor and gearbox would be exposed. I disconnected the hoses from the water mump, and removed it. I then removed the motor by unsnapping the retainer clips. the damaged coupling came off very easily. I just pried it off with a screw driver. I installed the new coupling, and put everything back in reverse order. The machine works great now.
